They are going to speculate we are aliens from outer space When and if I lose mine to a panni, I plan to get something appropriate tattooed in its place. Candidates so far: Panic Button, On/Off switch, Coin slot, Wind-up key. Anybody have other ideas? Winner will get a jpeg of the completed art work (but it won't be for another year, at least). --Steve --
Guest guest
> Good grief Tom! Couldn't they have used a packing material that > wouldn't stick so bad? > Hi Kathy: I researched all of the neato-modern wound packing materials. The problem with all of them is cost. At retail, it would have cost several hundred dollars to pack my wound with one of those alginate or hydrocolloid wound fillers -- and it had to be done twice a day. Even assuming the hospital gets the stuff wholesale, it would still be a couple hundred bucks. Then there's the problem of insurance, i.e., will the insurance companies pay for the latest thing when gauze is so much cheaper? Guest guest
Maybe you could do it in layers, non-stick first against the wound wall then regular gauze. Also, it couldn't hurt to ask the insurance. My mom needed to take a new type of interferon that wasn't covered by our insurance. When the doctor wrote a letter to the insurance company, they agreed to cover the new medication. You never know! Guest guest
This is very interesting. I never heard of this being done. So, you guys who've had this don't have a belly button? How does that feel? Steve- I think you should consider Jan Delyth's tree of life design.. since your bellybutton was lost to save/extend your life! Plus, its circular, & a nice design. =) Hugs, Liane
