Guest guest
Hi Mandy, do you have a clarren helmet? With any active helmet/band you should definitely see change in 3 mo time. Even with a passive one I would think you should still see change since her head must grow from 9 to 12 mo old. Do they check the circumference of her head each time? if that is increasing there should be some improvment in the shape too. I know Seattle doesn't have a lot of treatment options. Do you think the helmet fits her properly? I'm also sorry about the rude people. We had a few questions, but nothing like someone shouting across the store. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > 3 months now and still no change. Guest guest
Mandy, We also have a Clarren Helmet from Children's in Seattle. We have had it almost six weeks and my daughter is almost 11 months old. She too is not crawling or walking. Our helmet though is starting to get really tight and hard to get on and off. I am thinking of giving them a call, but I was told the helmet would fit for three months. There is no way it is going to fit for that long. We have gotten a fair bit of correction, but it is far from perfect. I had asked them if they did additional scans during the process to track the rate of correction and they said that scan time was expensive, so they didn't do that. It sounds like they did a scan for you, which I am glad to hear. It sounds like your daughter needs to just have a growth spurt, which is frustrating to wait for. I think my daughter has grown faster than they expected. She is adopted from Ethiopia and has gained 5 pounds in the last 3 1/2 months. Let's just say she no longer suffering from malnourishment. I think I am going to give them a call too and see if they can do a scan to let me know how much correction we have actually gotten. Good luck! ~ in Olympia > > 3 months now and still no change. Guest guest
Hi , My daughter wore a starband, and was scanned at nearly every visit (except one when the scanner wasn't working). After the scan the ortho has to spend a little time on the computer lining up the markers so they can compare one scan to the next, but this take about 10 minutes or so. I'm not sure why they consider this expensive, and not sure how much you pay for your treatment (if you self pay). I can't see that it is a big deal, and I would push to get it done. Also if the band seems tight you should have it checked to make sure it isn't restricting her growth. I'm glad she's doing well. She may not be sticking to the same growth curve now that her diet has changed so much, so is probably growing faster than many babies her age. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > > > 3 months now and still no change.
