Welcome Hazel & Ollie!

We have quite a few members who are in the UK, so hopefully they can

help you as far as the particulars of referrals and finding great

doctors over there, as well as " connecting with locals " . Are you a

member of the STEPS charity clubfoot forum also? There's a great on-

line community there too!

Can you give us some more details about Ollie's hands and what the

orthotists thought was unusual? Do they seem to be stiff or

contracted? There is a condition called arthrogryposis where more

than one joint in the body is contracted. So, if his hands are

contracted in addition to his clubfoot, this could be an indicator

that he might have arthrogryposis. Typically, clubfeet are

difficult to treat and maintain correction when they are associated

with this syndrome. However, I would have thought that your

doctor/consultant would have picked up on this by now since your son

is 6 weeks old and has completed correction.

We're glad you're here!

Regards,

& (3-16-00, left clubfoot)

Hi Hazel

Welcome. I'm in the UK too....in Surrey, and my son is being treated

using the Ponseti method by Naomi in Manchester. He's doing

really well. I'd suggest as well that you join the Steps discussion

forum to see if there is anyone near you....the forum ahs grown a

lot in the last year or so and has quite a few members now. The

address is http://steps-charity.org.uk/forum/

Hope this helps and that we see you on the Steps website

soon...although i have to say that even though I'm an avid member of

the Steps website, I always read the postings on this site as

everyone here is so kind and helpful and just full of experience and

knowledge!!

Hazel,

The creases you've probably seen discussed here are the ones across

the sole of the foot, seen in an uncorrected foot or incomplete

correction. The wrinkles on the ankle area are from the excess skin

after correction and usually go away almost completely as the child

grows.
