Guest guest
Everett sure thought so! He was grinning ear to ear! He stands up in it really well, but taking steps??? Yea! It kills me watching him crawl around in that thing. s. Re: Hey Hey! Whoo-Hoo Everett! That's awesome! > > Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 steps on his own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
He is going to be dancing in it soon! I know what you mean about watching them go from this confident little toddler to being stuck crawling around or holding on to stuff. It just about broke my heart the first time it struck me -- when Sammy first started walking, he got this little lawn mower for Christmas and was just loving pushing it around the house. He had been playing with it all evening one day and then the next morning went to try to walk with it with his FAB on and kept falling down. It made me so sad! Now I try to put it away where he won't see it in the a.m., and then get it out after he gets home from daycare when he is brace free. > > > > Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 steps on his > own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
Oh that's just too cute! Evy the little puppy lol! I too let Grace watch cartoon's in the mornings, I usually put a Dora in for her. It has probably taught her at least 50 words or more and she counts to 5 at 18 mos. Not that I'm givin Dora all that credit though lol. I think as long as it's an aged based good cartoon, it's fine! Oh how she loves her Dora hehe. Dora's cousin Diego has his own cartoon now too have you seen it, he is an animal rescuer, it's really cute =) & Grace > > > > > > Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 steps on his > > own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
All we can get here is Seseme Street / PBS - and frankly their shows have really gone down hill over the years. Re: Hey Hey! Guest guest
I'm with you on this one...The teacher side of me says, " Kids shouldn't be exposed to cartoons this early ( is 1 next week). " But, the Mom side of me says, " I need to get her off of the floor for awhile... " Guess who else is getting a kick out of Dora? Dr. Ponseti! Since we drove from FL to Iowa, I had our portable DVD player with me. I took it in the office during 's visits, because we usually were there while 5 other kids were there, and we had a pretty long wait. is obsessed with Dora, and it really is good about teaching kids vocabulary (One of 's favorite words to say is backpack). It's so repetative. Anyway, on our last visit, Dr. Ponseti started watching Dora with . " Rapido, rapido...yes! Yes! " he would say and laugh. I think he got a kick out of this cartoon that was speaking in his two languages. I think he might like Diego better... and I were thinking that maybe a DVD player in the cast room might not be a bad idea...Possibly on the ceiling? Hmmmmm... Guest guest
We get Sesame St. too, I think it's sooooo funny how it has changed so much since I was a kid....Elmo gets email now etc etc. I buy the DVD's, they are like 14 bucks Cad, I figure that the amount of use I'll get out of them over the next few yrs is well worth it. michelle & grace > > > > > > > > Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 > steps on his > > > own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
OK that is HILARIOUS!!! I thought that I was the only one hahaha, I do love to watch the 'new' episodes of Dora (after seeing it once, it's enough for me, but that first time...so fun to watch hehe), they are just so cute lol! I LOVE that Dr. P likes Dora and Diego, just confirms his love for children really. So what is the skinny on the Dr. P wish list cus I think that getting a sml tv with dvd player is a wonderful idea and they are sooo cheap these days! michelle & grace ps. our daughter LOVES Diego too and it's soooo funny to see her dad get his feathers all ruffled up about her 'infatuation' with Diego, I just laugh and laugh, he loves that too - NOT - lol lol! > > > > > > > > > > Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 > > steps on his > > > > own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
Funny you mentioned a DVD player in the cast room. If I remember correctly, they had them in the cast rooms at Gillette. They had lots of neat stuff there, like mobiles on the ceiling, etc. Aleksander loves going there, and loves the waiting room. So many things to play with! > > > > > > > > > > Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 > > steps on his > > > > own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
You can also get previously viewed tapes/DVDs at the rental stores that are quite reasonable. Thank you, Lord, for television! Hayden's all over the Baby Einstein. Guest guest
I try to at least keep on the Good Morning America show because i like hearing the news but I figure at least he is hearing intellegent people speak in proper English! LOL! I just don't see as much " education " involved on SS as there used to be which is disappointing. From: To: nosurgery4clubfoot Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2006 10:45 PM Subject: Re: Hey Hey! Guest guest
I too confess to letting my little one watch Dora in the mornings. And " Bear in the big blue house " . She too is entertained until it is time to take her shoes off. Once they come off the running and dancing begins! Dora has helped her vocabulary both spanish and english. Now if I could only get my son to speak more spanish that would be great! and number23 wrote: I have to hide Everett's little ride on toys prior to brace-time for the same reason. He wants to ride and can't Fortunately it's only 30 minutes before bed, but then in the morning it could be 2 to 3 hours depending on what time he wakes up. I find myself giving in to letting him watch morning cartoons more and more because it keeps him occupied off his feet...that's probably not good is it? I swear he knows when 9 o 'clock rolls around though, he starts pulling at them and saying OFF OFF OFF! On a funny note - big brother taught him how to act like a dog so Evy will crawl around carrying things in his mouth and barking. s. Re: Hey Hey! He is going to be dancing in it soon! Guest guest
I tell you these kids are something else! They are resilient! My daughter has started taking steps in her P/M brace as well. Problem is we have hardwood floors so, we are trying to figure what to put on them so she won't slip? Any ideas?? She really does good on balancing herself but I am afraid of her slipping and hurting herself. Congradulations! We have now moved on to potty training! YIKES!! and number23 wrote: Last night Everett hopped off his seat and took 3 or 4 steps on his own wearing his FAB! Guest guest
And how is the potty training going? My son shows absolutely no interest whatsoever. s. Re: Hey Hey! Guest guest
It's going ok. I thought she would put up more of a fight but since she started taking an interest I thought we might as well try. She has had her own little potty for a while but up until recently she started sitting in it. She does not like to be wet anymore and when she has a wet diaper she tries to take it off and tells me " wet! " . So I went to Walmart and bought her some Dora underwear and yesterday was her first day wearing them and she loved them! We only had one " accident " but she does tell me " pee " if she needs to go. It's a start I guess.. I don't really remember how I trained my son... it's been so long ago. But we will take it nice and slow for now. showed an interest when she was younger then all of the sudden she would scream if I would take her to the potty. So I did not try anymore. I thought when she is ready she will show some kind of interest. And she did, so we are gonna go from there! How old is your son? just turned 2 last month but I know that sometimes it can be a looong process. But it's not a big deal right now anyways. and number23 wrote: And how is the potty training going? Guest guest
You guys are lucky!! My son was almost 4 before he REALLY got potty trained, and didn't seem to care much if he was wet or dirty until then, but when he was ready, it was done. There wasn't much of a 'training'-- he just stopped using the pull ups and started with big boy undies!! My daughter is 2 years 3 months and only wants to sit on the potty if her brother goes in to do his thing. I suppose that's a start, but I think she's a LOOOOONG way from being trained!! She doesn't seem to understand that there's a difference between wet and dry or that to go potty you actually have to do more than sit on the toilet!! lol Diapers are a blessing some days, but I cannot wait to save that money!! Only 2-3 more years now... :-) Stacee > It's going ok. I thought she would put up more of a fight but since > she started taking an interest I thought we might as well try.
