I seem to remember reading this somewhere - but I may be confusing it

with the GFCF diet thing. Sometimes kids on gluten and casein get

large pupils since the gluten and casein are essentially acting like

drugs in their system. But it could be that any neuro-toxin could

cause pupil dialation. Sorry not to be definitive, but I do remember

a discussion about this on one of the lists I am on.

Perhaps you will want to join the Autism-Mercury list and ask your

question there.

I am not sure, but would love to know if it related to something, because

Ross's certainly are larger than normal. They seem dilated all the time.

I´ve read that autistic kids have very beautiful eyes. Does this have

something to do with the large pupils?

I was told by a lady I didn´t know, that my son´s eyes were beautiful!!!She

was very impressed.

Don't know about metals but allergies and resulting elevated histamine levels

can cause dialated pupils.

My sons pupils were dialated from birth on. I actually thought he

had dark brown eyes. This went hand in fist with blank staring. I

complained endlessly to the pediatrician and he blew me off.

One of the most amazing things about the diet and/or chelation was

that my son has light hazel eyes that I never saw until about 9-12

months ago. (He's 5.5yr.)His pupils actually constrict normally now.

I find myself looking at his eyes with total amazement. He rarely

stares now also.

What I was thinking about today as well, is that those lovely eye drops they

put in our childrens eyes at birth...probably one of their first exposures

to mercury thru thimerosal--very sick thing. I went to the eye dr today and

had just finished telling him how we are avoiding this product etc due to

our situation yada yada and then he put drops in my eyes and I said " Now

that didnt have thimerosal in it, did it? " and he said oh no, and then he

looked closer at the bottle and sure enough , it does. This stuff is still

out there!!! Found out from FDA site that i=mercury is in Comet, Dove,

's oil Soap...... . Products I use.. I will try to forward this site

if you guys havent seen it.

Anyway, what I was getting to in regards to your post, I cant help but

wonder if this exposure is not just part of the results you saw and the fact

that from early on, some of these children began to show inappropriate

responses to sensory stimuli and neurologically unable to respond. God

bless them, :)

Hi all

I have heard large pupils being attributed to two things:

- gluten / casein infraction (or constant eating of)

- mercury toxicity

Jeff had huge pupils or pupils that diulated irregularly prior to a GF CF

diet.

Now they have normalized

Take care
