The hospital is about 15 minutes north of downtown Detroit and his office is about 25 minutes north from the hospital. Kathy M.

Guest guest
Kathy, That is so exciting. I am so happy for you. I still have about 60 lbs till I get to my goal and 80 to reach my ideal weight. You have done so terrific on your weight loss. I showed my niece a Polaroid of me pre-op and she said she sees a dramatic difference. Funny but I do not see any change when I look in the mirror. I only know because of my clothes. Congratulations on being such a good loser and yeah for being able to buy normal size clothes. You go girl!!! Guest guest
Hi , I am new to this group and have had all of my preop requirements completed. I have seen one surgeon already for Lap RNY.I have just sent information to a surgeon for the DS. Did you have the DS ? If you did ,are there any side effects other than taking vitiamins.I want to be sure that I will keep the weight off and I have heard that the DS is the way to go.Any suggestions or comments. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to our group. I had the DS on 4/11/01. I had some serious things go wrong though not like some others on this list. I am 5 months post op now from the original surgery. I had a bowel obstruction 4/21/01 and then several infections. I have never done surgery the easy way. My surgeon made my common channel 80 cm though I am not positive he measured right because he has messed up on others. I have not had the problem of diarrhea that many have though for about 4 months I had 8-12 BM's a day. I have a large hernia as a result of my open DS and the other surgeries that followed. I am able to eat anything and I do tend to eat too much carbohydrate. This may account for what I consider a slower loss. My tastes have changed since surgery and early on I could hardly eat or drink anything without pain. Would I do this all over again? Hmmmmm on most days I would say YES! It is a very serious and drastic step but when I consider how I felt pre-op (Like death) and how I am slowly beginning to feel ( good) then it was worth it. Please know my situation was not what seems the norm. So many have had no trouble or nearly no trouble and I have yet to meet anyone who wouldn't do it again. I am 1/2 way to my goal. Good luck to you and feel free to ask anything from me or anyone else on this list.
