Guest guest
Stacey, I think the four hours free can be taken any way you want them to be - a couple hours twice a day for example, or all four hours at once. I'd try to take the free time while he's awake and active so he can use his legs and learn his skills. Have you adjusted the length of his bar at all since he began wearing the FAB? Perhaps the bar is too narrow for him now, allowing the foot to slip. Finally - stuff in the mouth, every mother's nightmare! Not sure how to keep the bolt on tight if you take the bolt off daily to remove the shoe (some folks do that). Otherwise, it's just vigilance, FAB or not, kids just put stuff in their mouths like their tongue is a 3rd hand for exploration. Hope some of that helps. s. DBB Questions Hello Everyone, I have a few questions concerning the DBB. My son is 4 months old and has been wearing the DBB 23/7 for almost 3 months. I know the Posnseti protocol shows that after wearing the bar for 3 months at 23/7 we can cut that time down to 20 hours a day. When he has the shoes and bar off for 4 hours can it be 4 consecutive hours or should it be broken up throughout the day? I was not sure if the shoes were off for a whole 4 hours that this would cause problems. Second, all of a sudden 's clubfoot started slipping out of his shoe constantly. He has not had this problem since the first week he has been wearing them. We took him back to the shoes store where we got the shoes and the man took the padding out of the shoe. Since the padding is gone we are able to pull the strap much tighter and hopefully the shoes will now stay on. Any reson why the foot would start to slip out all of a sudden? Should we worry more about blisters now that the padding is gone? I asked the store owner and he said the padding being gone would not make too much of a difference. Finally, is at the point now that he puts everything in his mouth. Once in a while when he is kicking his legs so much against the floor or crib the bolt on the bottom of his shoes become loose. I try to tighten them at much as possible when I put the shoes on. My concern is that one day the bolt will come off and he will put it in his mouth. My husband said this should not happen since there are too many threads for the bolt to twist completely off. When he gets older too I am afraid he may unscrew the bolts and then put them in his mouth as well. Does anyone else have these concerns or am I just a paranoid first time mom?
