Greg, Good for you giving up tobacco or any type.  And right it would not be worth it to even try and see if it helps. I took care of two different pts. they both died of tobacco use, one chewed, first he lost half of his tongue and stripped all the

lymph nodes down that side of the neck, later showed up in his brain and lungs and died. the other was a women who lost her larynx, and ended up growing out of the neck, it was awful, she had to have the bandage changed every few day, and the tumor was not

a pretty site, then her Esophagus just bleed out and she died. Not a good thing to watch.  Blessings to all, Marla

Tracie,

Ok as you know I use to dip Copenhagen for almost 30 years. I look over my past, and I remember when the docs on 6 different times dx me with hep and/or meng. That was until the they did the proper blood work to validate their DX. Then every time after the tests I came up clean. This was ina time period from 1990 to 2005. I am thinking that I had NS longer then I know and maybe the copenhagen or the nicotine in it may have suppressed the onset. I was still dipping when NS Flared Up big and nasty. SO I believe it may suppress they onset but it will not keep it suppressed. Now all that being said I do not think all of BS that comes with dipping or chewing is worth the endeavor. I tried to quit dipping for the last 5 Years. And now I have found a way and I am loving. Please everybody " Do not fall for the media and TV hype " Please do not take up the habit it is not worth it................ I know!!!!!

Pray for all my friends (thats all of you)

Greg the former tobacco user

> Wow-- that is interesting.  So, if we chew tobacco-- then we'd not need the other stuff, pred, BRM's, Dmards-- but then, we'd be worried about the tongue and gum cancers-- and after having 2 bro-in laws have hunks of both carved out from chew--

> I'd bet we'll all still die anyway.

> And Greg-- I'm proud of you that between quitting the snuff, and starting the pred-- that as you said-- there is no dead bodies around -- I'm not sure I could have done it!  LOL!

> It's nuts-- I know that the pred was what makes me wanna go out and " touch someone. "   Maybe now, I'll just carry my Flying Pig everywhere I go-- and instead of giving people a salute of sorts (see the Beverly Hillbillies movie if you are confused-- I do live in California) I'll just smack em with my pig!

> Oh, and Rose-- you can come over in those leopard skin things, and fit right in-- of course, you'll need your ice brassiere wrapped around your head to make it complete.

> Oh my, it must be bed time....
