Hey!!

I am so excited. My husband got his first choice and we're mocing to

Chattanooga, TN. I've never lived out of Louisiana and think it will

be adventurous. I'm also excited that by the time we move I'll be

unwired, " unbraced " , with a fresh new smile. Sigh...time is starting

to move faster.

Great, congratulations! I've been to Chattanooga several times on

business. Good steaks and barbecue :).

Congratulations to you and your hubby!

I think Chattanooga is gorgeous. I dearly love the N.C. and

Tennessee mountain country, and I'm thinking that Chattanooga fits

in that characterization... I used to spend summers in the Smokies,

and that was wonderful! While I had friends and family sweltering, I

could enjoy sweaters and fires, in the summertime... If I've got the

wrong part of Tennessee on my mind, forgive me!

And you're still not too far away to dip down for a mudbug or two --

if he ever gets any time off!

Jane, I went to a little Latte shop here and got a

choc'lit/raspberry shake with whipped cream on top for my hubby...

He raved about it.

And his dentist recommended whey protein, with flax seed, or flax

seed oil, blended into skim milk (I presume with ice cream and

whatever flavor) and fruit, which he seems to find acceptable...

Maybe a change from the boost...

I dunno why you couldn't do something along the lines of a bull

shot, either -- tomato juice w/bouillon and whatever else you wanna

whiz into it, like maybe cottage or other cheese... A bit of Vodka,

if you're feeling adventurous... Just a couple of thoughts.

Just realised that on top of all this you have a cold and what not

to deal with. I will try and sent enery/feel-good thought-packs

overseas :) I feel bad for complaining about a loose tooth and pain

while there are people like you out there dealing with much more.

I hope you feel better today!!!

Karola,

Hey! Yes I would love more time off. Last year I was off from

December until the summer because I had a baby. So needless to say I

had only 2 weeks left of extended sick leave. (I had no idea then I

would be getting braces or having the surgery). So I took my two

weeks then went back. They've been really good about letting me

lesve Early. Luckily my break is at the end of the day. This

afternoon I got totally stuffed up and was breathing loudly. When

students started coming up to get help with their lists of factors I

nearly had a panic attack! When the students went to music our

coordinator sent me home. It is tough. I knew spring break was near

so was hoping the two weeks back would help time fly by. Instead I

think its wearing my innume system down. It really sucks because

this week is teacher appreciation week which means every break and

lunch is catered with delicious foods!! I just stay in my room. I

can't even go in the lounge at this point it is torture! I can't

wait until one week and three days!

Karola,

If I had a loose tooth I would be freaked out with everything else,

braces, surgery, spacers. I worry about all my sneezing and coughing

yanking my teeth out. I know the wires aren't going to give so I

assume eventually my teeth are just going to yank out! Hopefully

not. When do you talk to your dr about this loose tooth? Let me

know what he says.

Katja,

Hey, I feel for you about the long work days. When I first started

back it really was a shock to my body. Your stamina will get back up

soon. I am having worse jaw pain than ever on my right side.

Especially when I " try " to eat. I actually feel a little indention

where they cut I guess. It started yesterday and seems to be getting

worse!! This can hinder my eating fest for this week (whenwe are

unsplinted!) How long after do you have to have your braces?

Jane,

I've kind of tried to match my work hours with my stamina, so the

fact that I was able to even work a full day is testamony to my

improvement.... But it was a long day with too much talking! At least

my coworkers are entertained with my sh- and th- sounds added to

every word!

I'm sorry about your jaw pain... maybe going back to a low dose of

the advil or whatever you were taking would help take the edge off? I

went back to some of my stronger pain meds sometimes just because

I've had so much pain sometimes. I am still on a lot of Aleve anyway.

I am clenching and grinding my teeth at night and that doesn't not

help the cause when it comes to pain. So, I take what I need to feel

comfortable... well sometimes I am stupid and sit by stoically

suffering. :( But if the meds help, why sit and suffer?!?

I hope the pain goes away for you soon. I read that you can open an

inch now!?!? I'm not that far yet! You have passed me by and left me

in the dust! You'll have your whole fist in there in no time!!

I can feel the spots on my lower jaw where they made cuts too....

they don't feel as pronounced as they did when I was right out of

surgery which is good, but it is a bit odd to feel just the same!

I expect to have my braces on for a few months still after the

surgery. I was told 4-6, but if it's longer than that, I don't care.

I want to be good and ready when they finally come off. (but I don't

have the constraints of moving that you have). So, I don't know how

long it will be actually. I have my first meeting with my ortho post

surgery on the 25th I think. He'll probably be able to give me a

better idea then what time frame I am looking at.

Katja :)

Hi,

I am not a military wife. My husband is graduating medical school end

of May, and he matched to the residency program in Chattanooga

Tennessee in general surgery, so... we are moving June 1st and

hopefully I will get my braces off a couple days before. I am an

elementary teacher so the kids are hoping to see me brace free! :)
