Guest guest
I am 3 week post op and I am numb from directly under my eyes to cheeks... a little feelings in my outer cheeks... but my top lip and chin are completely numb.. I did have a genio so I know it takes time... I am eating with a baby spoon with things like mashed potatoes and soups... my lips are numb outside but I can close my mouth completely (so i am not drooling any more ) I try to sleep on my back too because I am afraid of hurting myself... I am side sleeper as well.... My eyes burn a lot too ...Do you have that problem? Thanks for the feedback.... I had double jaw with a genio.... U r 5 weeks right? janepapillion wrote: I had a lot oftingling constantly in my face week 3 and week 4. Now I have full feeling back on the left side and complete numbness from mid cheek down on the left side. I worry because I heard the tingling was my feeling coming back which it did on one side but the other is just numb now. I have feeling in half of my bottom lip and chin and complete numbness in half my bottom lip and chin. It is weird. Sometimes I wake up and am sleeping onmy side and get nervous I am putting too much pressure on my jaw and lay flat. Guest guest
Friday, good for you... will they remove the splint too.. I have to wear my splint for 3 more weeks... boo ... I will be glad when it comes out... I find that it traps a lot a stuff and it's hard to clean my mouth... Wow, we are similar .. I had upper moved forward and widened... and to the right... lower moved back ....and a genio I am eating mashed potatoes, soups, ground beef (which is hard to clean out of my mouth, purred anything that I can blend with a good soup, I eat yogurt (soy), and drink protein shakes... I use the syringe to drink and some to eat... I started using a baby spoon this week... janepapillion wrote: Yes I am 5 weeks post op tomorrow. I get unwired Friday. I had upper moved forward and widened and lower moved back and to the left. I think I mistyped-my left has feeling my right is numb I can't think sraight lately, literally. I went to the grocery store tonight and realized I had no idea what I needed to get. Eventually it came back to me. I have a splint in my mouth so really can't talk understandably. I still have to use a syringe to drink liquids or my zip and squeeze bags (I've sort of given up on them although they worked well for a while) I drink whole milk with chocolate instant carnation in it, vanilla shakes, juice, the dreaded Boost. That's about it For a while I did good and pureed things (they were usually not thin enough to get a lot in ) I did soups for a while, smoothies (cold is still sensitive on the inside of my mouth) but I've just sort of kept it simple lately to get by. My eyes just seem tired lately. Maybe that's it. Also, my lower lids are still a bit numb. How long til you can eat regular semi soft foods? Guest guest
Yes, I can tell a BIG difference... I can feel inside my lips and some outside so the spoon works well.. I am swollen but not much.... Do it hurt when they remove the splint? u let me know after Friday... Hey tomorrow is HUMP day and will only have Thrusday to get thru... HANG ON my friend.. Sadie janepapillion wrote: Friday I will have the wires removed and the splint!! I can start soft foods then and hope things will take a turn for the better! So how do you like your results? Can you tell a difference yet or are you still too swollen. I am getting use to my new seemly smaller centered chin. It makes quite a difference to me. Also my face was a little hollow in the cheek area and now its a little fuller. More pronounced. So how is the baby spoon working with numbness? That has to be hard.
