Guest guest
I'm still new to the diet myself, but it sounds like a yeast overgrowth to me. I get the same thing - a sour taste in my mouth. After I had the sour taste for a while, I got a coated gray tongue, then it turned to the " cottage cheesy " look of thrush. I was on 40mg/day of prednisone at the time, which is what exacerbated the yeast overgrowth. I notice the thrush gets worse with cheese, honey, winter squash. Took out bananas, carrots and other high-carb carbs for a whole week and noticed more improvement than when I was using a prescribed anti-fungal. The candida diet says it's okay to eat cheese once/week and the high-carb carbs once every other day, plus juice every other day I think, but I took out all of them, and it got better pretty fast. I've only eaten 1/2 of a banana and the carrots that were in my chicken soup since then, except when I re-introduced cheese after stopping my yogurt, and it got rapidly worse after the 3rd day of cheese. (I wanted cheese! Silly me.) Not sure why yogurt would cause that, but my lymph glands would swell up when I ate a lot of it, as they would for other foods once they got aggrivated. Maybe I just have had a cold. Not sure. But that is my experience! My intro diet has also become very restricted. I made a cross-list of low-fructose, low-carb, low-stage-of-introduction (on the 1-5 scale on pecan-bread) foods to use/try. Right now I am only eating avocados, pear, zucchini, cabbage, blueberries, peppermint tea (no honey), beef, chicken (in soup), and fish. When the thrush is better, I am able to tolerate all the other foods much better. I was using applesauce for a while but noticed that was causing hot/burny BMs. Kat 27 UC since June 09 SCD since Feb 10 Prednisone, rhodiola rosea, DHEA, iron and other supplements > > Something I've noticed in the past month on Scd is that I get a weird > taste in my mouth in the mornings after I've had yogurt (also my mouth > is very dry on these mornings).
