OT singing

Doesn't OT mean off topic as this is what this is....???

Today I noticed that slowly my 33 mos pdd nos daughter has begun

singing phrases like " Jane in wagon. Jane in wagon. " to the tune of a

nursery rhyme or whatever. She's been doing this off and on, but

during some indep. play today she sang " 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 " several

times to the ABC tune. She can count, but not always get the #s

right. When she sings, it is perfect and smooth. When she talks, it

is always 2 or 3 words and it is very " broken up. " For example,

" Daddy. Eat. Now. " I have always worked with her and explained things

while singing. Driving down the road I might sing " See the man, he's

mowing grass, mowing grass, mowing grass. " Instinctively and then

after reading about ASD after her diagnosis I feel this is a good

thing for me to cont. My question is...

1. Isn't singing typical of Asperger's Disorder?

2. Mommy and Jane's singing is good, right? I'm not refering to

pitch. I have the world's worst singing voice! We should cont.

singing and encourage her when she does, I feel. Anyone know about

this?

We do this too. You wouldn't believe the songs I've made up that

have helped us transition (I'm not very creative so most of our songs

are to the tune of " howdy doody time " , for example we have " happy

nappy time " . Hey...it works. LOL
