flax seed question...

(Note: I posted this on one other board because I couldn't remember

where the flax seed experts reside. So sorry if some of you run into

this twice.)

I bought some flax seed yesterday and I ground it with my coffee bean

grinder. It mixes well with my protein shake. I knew it was in there

so I thought that psychologically I would think my shake tasted bad,

but it didn't. Yeah!!

My question is since it aids in constipation, should I discontinue my

stool softner? I take 5 a day (yes, 5 - my constipation problem is

that bad & 5 seems to do the trick) in order to have bowel movements

that don't need surgical removal (LOL - sorry- TMI). My concern is

that I end up with the opposite problem. I did cut down to 3 for

today. Just a little apprehensive. Have cut down on stoof softeners

before & lived to regret it. <G> Also since flax seed is a good

source of the omega-3's, should I discontinue the coremega?

Any help from the flax seed experts out there will be greatly

appreciated.

Lorraine.......the flaxseed really does the " trick " for me. I have at least

2 TBLSP a day......sometimes 3 or 4. It would probably be a good idea to

wean off of the stool softeners. I would try 4 for a few days, see how that

goes, then 3 and so on.......you may end up with a balance of both. My

problem is/was not as bad as yours.....mostly would only come on when I took

any kind of narcotic......I have now been on narcotics for almost 2 months

and had no problems.......hope it works for you!!!!!! P.
