Guest guest
My son didn't have an itchy scalp but he did have cradle cap that I wanted to clear up before starting helmet treatment. It was recommended to me to use extra virgin olive oil and it worked like a charm. I used it about 3 times and the cradle cap was gone. I would bet it helps with itchy scalp as well, it has a lot of natural antioxidents in it that are good for the skin, and it isn't irritating. However, because it is oil, it left my son's hair greasy for a few days until we were really able to wash it all out. I never used it while he was wearing his band, so I would definitely check with your ortho first to see what they think of oil possibly damaging the foam lining. Maybe if he doesn't have a lot of hair, it wouldn't be as oily for you, but definitely check first. Good luck! He has a very dry scalp since he got the band on and I know my hand out says not to use powders, lotions, or wipes on his head or in the band. I dont want it to get irritated under there from his dry skin. Anything I can do for that? I cant really change shampoo much because he has really sensitive skin and it didnt seem to be causing an issue(his shampoo) but i think its just the sweat under his helmet now causing it. He said when I go back on the 29th he will drill some ventilation holes in it >
