Guest guest
Hey.. How long have you been on the SCD? Seems to me you are going through die-off hell. This means as your digestion changes and your ecology is shifting due to the bad bugs not being fed your just a mess. This happens to many of us You eating any eggs? Eggs always made my D worse. How are you preparing your foods. It's good if you give us as much detail as possible. You drinking fruit juices at all? If so you MUST dilute. What about Coffee or strong tea? That can give the runs too as it can deplete the good bugs. Jodi > > Hi, I'm new to this, though was on a d-tox of grain-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, if it tasted nice-free for almost 3 months. I turned to SCD because the Metagenics supplements and herbs my naturopath had me on gave me constant diarrhea. I have undiagnosed IBS/Leaky Gut/Chronic Fatigue/multiple food intolerances. Prior to the naturopath, I was constantly constipated, now constant diarrhea. I got really concerned, although I'm nothing like the 10-20 visits a day (more like 2), but my energy, which was pretty poor before is now very low and like most, I have to work, run a home etc. I have done the intro, then tried almond bread and some almond butter and the D continued, so went back onto the intro and the D continued (for a week)and I got weaker. I got so desperate that after trawling through the old Long Island listserve, got some slippery elm, now I find it is illegal (stopped the D though). I can't tolerate cows milk, so am currently on Goats milk and goats yoghurt, beef and chicken broth, carrots, zucchini, green beans, a little chicken, a little beef. Is it ok for the D to continue? I tried the pear & apple sauce, but it sends me to sleep, whereas I really need more energy - does anyone have any ideas? >

I made the SCD yoghurt with milk and just went straight through me, so am trying goats yoghurt - maybe it's the casein in the milk that was a contributing problem. No coffee or tea for 3 months, no carbonated water - just plain filtered. Everything is cooked within an inch of it's life. I started an SCD-like diet around 3 months ago (no dairy or honey, though the rest was pure SCD). I started the SCD just over a week ago to try to stop the D and at the same time went off all naturopathic remedies as they seemed to make it worse. Now, it's 11.30 at night (Australia) and I'm buzzing with energy and sleep will be hard. Tomorrow, I'll be dragging through the day. This is my last resort as this has been going on for on an off about 40 years and this has to be the solution.
Guest guest
Hey- I didn't catch your name or your alias. We dig calling people by a name here I would go straight to SCD intro with no yogurt. Give your body time to adjust. Do you like using bone broths? It took me a very long time to get rid of D. My situation was not typical and I would never advise anyone to make the choices I made. Are you having D during the night too? Do you have to wake up to have D? If you are up at 11:30 p.m., you have waited too long to go to bed. Your body has given you another 'push' that is what keeps you awake if you aren't already asleep. Forty years of the body trying to compensate creates a lot of stress which can really tire the adrenal glands. Low adrenals = low steroids = contributes to inflammation because hydrocortisone (among other things) regulates inflammation.Sky, chime in here, I know you are the most knowledgeable in this stuff and you are in the right part of the world too.AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 20 monthsLDN 3 mgTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Mon, February 22, 2010 12:38:34 PMSubject: Re: New - diarrhea - Leaky Gut, Chronic Fatigue > > > > Hi, I'm new to this, though was on a d-tox of grain-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, if it tasted nice-free for almost 3 months.
