Guest guest
: I'm glad that you decided to cancel the surgery if you weren't 100% sure about it. Keeping good thoughts that you will get an answer soon and that you will be feeling well again soon. Regina
Guest guest
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! 's surgery Wow, after 17 cast changes will be having surgery tomorrow in the early a.m. They will be doing a tendon transfer on both feet as well as a tenotomy and on one foot possibly a tendon lengthening. Both feet will probably have a plantar faschia release done as well. I have to say although I'm happy to be at this point, it's hard to say good-bye to her medical team, especially Dr. Ponsetti and Nurse , and the RMH friends we've gotten to know. My husband and son are stuck in Chicago right now and they've rebooked them on another flight in the morning however they are going to try stand-by into Milone, Illinois later tonight. We thought about renting a car for them to drive up but United won't do that for us and we certainly can't do it either. If they don't make it in till tomorrow we'll be o.k. as I was the one that was going to take her in anyways. and I have been doing a lot of pretend with masks like we're astronouts because she likes to pretend going to the moon. Plus we've played hospital where we've put a play i.d. bracelet on one wrist and wrapped her other arm in that stretchy bandage stuff that doesn't stick when you take it off (this is what we used to play casting with her dolls and animals) so she knows she'll wake up with her forearm wrapped with an i.v. She has a great little hospital book we found by Mister that shows all of this. Plus she thinks it's pretty cool that she gets a brand new outfit to wear when we get there. So far she seems o.k. with it all. Hopefully all of this play will make things go smooth in the morning and she'll just fall asleep in my arms and not be scared about the i.v. when she wakes up. Thanks to all of you for your support since I became a part of this group. You are awesome!!! Love, Joyce &

Guest guest
Good luck tomorrow!! I hope 's surgery goes well!! Just to tip you off...I don't want to scare you, but she probably will fight the anesthesia. We had Jake very well prepared for his surgery but he still really fought it. As his mommy I knew I had to go back with him (there was no way I wouldn't have!!) but it is still one of the hardest things I have ever had to do as a mother. He cried and cried and tried to push the mask away, and I had to hold him down. I still get teary-eyed about it, a month later. Anyways I didn't want to give you more worries than you already have, but wanted you to know how things are likely to go tomorrow. On the plus side, some of what they will give in her IV will give her temporary amnesia, so she won't remember anything about being put under. Good luck and tell us how everything went. Guest guest
Hi Joyce, I'm so sorry I didn't read this last night or I would have given you a call. I hope everything goes by quickly today for and your family. If you need anything you know you can call me anytime I'm always here to listen to you! I'm so glad your husband and son are coming in, that will be a nice way for to wake up after surgery and have everyone who loves her there. How long are you staying after her surgeries? Give her a big hug for us! We finally got our pics developed from Iowa, and Collin loves the ones with in it and anytime he see's a us map now, he shows us NJ (where we live), Florida (where his granma lives), Iowa (RMH), and of course now Idaho (for !!!). I will try to give you a call on Sunday when things calm down a bit, but feel free to call me sooner if you can. Michele
Guest guest
Wow, I'm sorry Jake had a bad experience going back for the anesthesia. With Collin at the University of Iowa, before he even went back for the anesthesia. They came out and came him a sip of some red medicine to calm him, well within 5-10 minutes he was so goofy and laughing at everything and slurring!!! He was so funny he had me in tears laughing. My husband went back as they did the anesthesia and he said he just took the mask and went to sleep, still all giggly before. They even gave him a mask to play with in the pre- op area where he got the magic goofy potion so we played astronaut, before he went in. Guest guest
My prayers are with ya'll. I know you have been so patient and worked so hard to get to this point. Ya'll were such a blessing to us while we were at the RMH. Sydney gets her last set of casts off on Monday. (This will be her first time with no casts since she's been born. yeah!) We will return to Iowa in January to decide if she'll need a 2nd tenotomy. has been blessed by your love and I wish ya'll the best of luck and a speedy and happy recovery. & Sydney childrenloveall wrote: Wow, after 17 cast changes will be having surgery tomorrow in the early a.m. They will be doing a tendon transfer on both feet as well as a tenotomy and on one foot possibly a tendon lengthening. Guest guest
Joyce- Hope everything went well will 's surgery. Will had the tendon transfer on both feet on the 2nd of November, after 3 castings for his relapse. He was on the pain medicine for 2 days and then was ok as long as you didn't touch his toes which were swollen for approximately 5 days. We get the casts off tomorrow and are soooo excited! I have to tell you a little story. I know that you had replyed to my email earlier in October and told me about . Will's Dr. was in Iowa on the 7th and must have met you and . When we had Will's post op on the 8th, he spoke of a little girl that hadn't had any treatment for her feet until recently. I asked if her name was , and he said yes with an astonished look on his face and wanted to know how I knew and I refered to the group. It's a great thing that we can get together and help one another. Best Wishes for 's recovery, Leigh Anne > > Wow, after 17 cast changes will be having surgery tomorrow > in the early a.m. They will be doing a tendon transfer on both feet > as well as a tenotomy and on one foot possibly a tendon > lengthening.
