Guest guest
I have read caprylic acid is contraindicated for people with UC, which judging from your signature you do not have, but I thought I'd throw that out there. > > Hi everyone, > I started rotating antifungals every 2 weeks about a month ago (started with 1 Capryl capsule the first 2 wks - i have taken this before with no problem and thought it'd be safe to start off with, 1/2 candidase for 5 days then full capsule each day the rest of the second 2 wks). This past Tues. i started taking 1/2 capsule of olive leaf extract (OLE) and have felt more energy, bm's better- sorry tmi but have been having pellet-like bm's every other day (had black specs in it Tues & Wed - die-off?)and felt better mental clarity. My stomach soreness/pain has increased and have had some lower back pain/stiffness. I took 1/2 capsule Tues & 1/2 on Wed. but didn't take any yesterday and am debating on taking it today. Does anyone know if i should back off of it until my stomach pain eases up or just decrease to 1/4 capsule maybe...every other day? I guess the stomach soreness/pain is die-off? I've read OLE is very strong so maybe it's just a lot stronger than the Capryl and Candidase and i need to go a lot slower with it. I really have felt more energy and overall much better using the antifungals so i do think they're helping. Thanks for any information! > > > Diagnosed gluten sensitive - 01/08 > Gluten free - 01/08 > SCD - 09/08 > SCD & anti-yeast diet - 10/09 >
Guest guest
I can tolerate both garlic oil capsules, and raw minced garlic (I put that in capsules too, because I'm not fond of strong garlic). I take it right before I eat dinner, so maybe that's why it hasn't irritated my gut. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > I've had extreme die-off from very potent olive leaf extract. Guest guest
Eileen, it takes time. I'm about mid-way through a month on Diflucan (fought the doctor for awhile but he was right, it's been pretty easy to get along with and I sure am starting to feel better), then next week when I get to the three-week part I will be starting to ease into the Nystatin. I asked him last week why both? He said they work differently. That the Diflucan swooshes (not his word) a lot of the easy ones out. Then the Nystatin goes in after the ones in hiding. I couldn't pin him down on how long I'll be on Nystatin. When I get done witht hat, or if I have no real trouble, I will start rotating the natural stuff. I think this is a case where " all better " really does take time. i'm doing them together Ooo and 2 olive leaf twice a day plus nystatin - shouldn't I be " all better " as a kid would say - LOL!!! eileen 2 years scd

Oh, yeah! When that was pointed out to me, I went, " Well... DUH! Guest guest
Hi Holly, I'm using Seagate olive leaf extract which says on the bottle that the OLE is the only ingredient and i had researched that brand a while back and found it SCD legal (I'll have to look again and make sure). My reaction from it i'm pretty sure is die-off so i feel it is safe. Are you juicing garlic? I have some GSE and want to use it but i've gargled with diluted GSE before when i've had a sore throat or just a bad taste in my mouth and i'm sure a tiny bit of it i swallowed and it gave me a sore stomach - i think i got joint pain also. Maybe when i try it i'll do one drop in a lot of water. I took 1 capsule for 1 week, but didn't feel any different. Maybe it's not potent enough. This week I'm doing garlic. Next week I think I'll do GSE. > > Holly > Crohn's > SCD 12/01/08 > > > > > > Diagnosed gluten sensitive - 01/08 > > Gluten free - 01/08 > > SCD - 09/08 > > SCD & anti-yeast diet - 10/09 > > >
Guest guest
It also says a minimum of 6% oleuropein. Is that also considered potent? If so, I feel pretty happy! I haven't noticed much in the way of die off, so maybe my 14 1/2 months SCD has eradicated a large portion of the bad guys *crosses fingers* Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > 500 mg is a very substantial dose of olive leaf extract. > For people just starting it, it's wise to start much lower and work up. > > n
