HELP.... BIG PAIN

I am a 43 year old woman. I weighed 357 before surgery... I've lost

54 pounds (probably more - that was the data from a week ago)

3 weeks after my surgery my incision (huge - from my chest to my

belly button) EXPLODES with this toxic oooooze (it was so gross -

tons of fluid came gushing out of my belly). So the doctor ordered a

visiting nurse to come every day and irrigate the wound... I had to

change the bandage every few hours... soooooo gross.

Now I irrigate the wound myself every morning. I am back to work

and WAS doing fine until yesterday. The hole in my belly seems to

be closing and all of the sudden I get a HUGE stabbing pain near my

incision. It feels like a knife is stabbing me - or a REALLY bad

musle pull. It doesn't seem to be my " plumbing " because everything

is working fine (eating, peeing, pooping) but this pain is almost

too much to bear. I am going into my regular doc tomorrow, but he

probably won't do anything because it's surgery-related. I am going

into the surgeon's office on Wednesday (it's 2 hours away).

I AM SO SCARED. Has anyone else had this type of pain after 2

months?

heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp... please!

Deb,

14 days after surgery my incision started to open with an infection. I sat in

the hospital waiting room for 5 hours before I was seen by a doctor, then they

called my surgeon. Two hours later he arrived and decided that the infection

would be cleaned (into my abdomen) and then would heal from the inside out. It

was a 4 inch wound that needed a visiting nurse twice a day for three months.

During this time was throwing up bile in the morning. I could not go to work,

it was the worst feeling.

As long as you get to your surgeon/doctor as soon as you feel something is

different, they will reassure you that you are ok or get you the help you need.

Hang in there, we are here for you.

I'm 6 weeks out from surgery and started having this really bad pain on the

right side and in the middle and ended up in the local hospital this past

weekend. (my surgeon is 3 hrs away also) I got an ultra sound yesterday and I

have Gal stones and Man am I sore. Maybe you should get checked for that.
