Guest guest
Dear i, I couldn't disagree with your doc more. I am not on a diet and never will be on another diet again. I eat what I want, when I want and as much as I want. I have never felt this free from food guilt before. My only rule is to take my vitamins (ADEKs is a chewable water soluble version of vitamins A,D,E & K since we malabsorb fats) and eat protein at almost every meal. After that, I basically eat everything. Good luck. Jane J. Lap BPD/DS April 26, 2001 >So do you all feel that you are on a diet for > the rest of your lives? > > Also what is ADEK? Guest guest
I wonder if your doctor was thinking of the RNY where many people are lactose intolerant and can't eat some foods like string beans or corn. alyssa hi > One thing that has disturbed me from my doctors appointment yesterday is > that he said I was basically choosing a diet for life? A diet that never > ends. I know he wasn't talking about the DS as he doesn't deal with that > one. Knows RNY the best. Guest guest
Hi! This is Sharon. I just got back from the doctor. My open wounds are infected again so the doctor is going to go in and take the new stuff out. This will be surgery #8. Then he says prepare myself for surgery #9 because with out any support in there I will get hernias. I'd appreciate all of you praying for me during this time. That's what always brings me through this. Talk to you later. Love, Sharon

Guest guest
, I think you should be admired for taking this step. It is not the easy way out from everything that I have read and all the research I have done. I think sometimes people try to talk us out of it because they don't understand or they are scared. You hang in there. I know what it feels like to not be able to do what your family and friends are able to do. You have to make the right decision for yourself and don't let anyone sway you once you make it. As for your daughter's boyfriend. Until he is ready to make the decision to make a better life for himself he won't do it. No one could have told us that we needed to loose the weight and made us do it. We all know we need to loose the weight be have to come to that decision to act on it ourselves. Way to go with your decision. This is a great place for support. Dora Awaiting approval in TN ( I can't wait to change that line) hi im from New Jersery, and ive done weight watchers i lost 78 lbs,but you do gain it back,i once took my children to disneyworld i got stuck in the counter at the haunted mansion ride,i was soooooooo upset i pushed my way through i spent the rest of the day sitting on the bench watching my family enjoy themselves,i cried it was horrible i had hurt my stomach also, people say to me your taking the easy way out nooooooo im not i had my surgery which was open may 24,2004 ive lost 32 lbs,i was 300 im 5'2,which is very heavy i now have ankles, this is a big decision,i was scared changed my mind when i had gotten there but i went through it, i know i have a long way to go but i will get there,i think the hardest thing i have ever done was this surgey,im healthy no problems,i just knew i wanted more from life then food,i think food becomes our best friend we just go over board i ate everything ,i think its sad how many people find themselves in this siuation ,sometimes i could just cry when i see someone as heavy as me or worse heavier, my daughter boyfriend is tall hes 23 years old weighs about 500 lbs thats sad,hes about 5'8 i tell him all the time you are killing yourself, i gave him all my weight watchers books, never looked at them, everyone i knew was against this surgery, i said being heavy is just as risky as the surgery, i felt i needed this to prolong my life,i want to be able to play with my kids, fit in booths,it is a big decision but if you want a new begining i think this is a start to a new life, i wish everyone luck, mary

My midwife was always telling me to stay away from sugar. Anyway, my kids were 6 lb 10 oz, 8 lb 3 oz, and 10 lb 3 oz. I was a bit nervous to have #4 as I thought he'd go up another 2 pounds. LOL He was 7 lb 14 oz, but I do think he would have been closer to 10 or 11 pounds if he hadn't had spina bifida. Guest guest
My dh keeps discussing with people how I look different this time....just discussing the size and shape of my body as if it's a '57 Chevy or something....geeze. Men are weird. s. Re: hi Isn't it amazing the different things people say? In the space of 10 minutes you'll have one person saying how " small " you are...and the next insisting you must be having twins because you're so huge! And then when the baby's born--one person swears it looks exactly like your husband, the next swears it's your twin!! People are crazy! I do like how close the kids are, the get along pretty well and play together constantly. The only thing I regret is that we're going so quickly from LOTS of babies to NO babies, and I think I'll miss the baby stage, KWIM? Adopting sounds nice, we had discussed doing that at some point but it's not really an option right now. It's amazing the things you don't realize you miss--like NOT wiping poopy hineys 10x a day or being able to sleep through the night...I think that's what makes it so much harder to have another one once you're past those phases. What a funny way to find out you're pg!! I found out about Ava because I dreamed I was pg, and had a little girl and her name was Ava, and it was one of those dreams that are so real you wake up going " Did I have another baby?? " I laid there thinking how strange/realistic it was...then I started counting days....the rest is history. I really think my body was trying to tell me I was pg, because I was already almost 6 weeks. But I wasn't concerned b/c I was very irregular after #2 was born. Well, hopefully I don't have any little " surprises " soon, unless they're the sparkling diamond kind from my husband! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I went for a prenatal check yesterday and my baby is breech. > >I will > > > > > >be 36 > > > > > > > weeks on Monday so not sure if she can still turn. Guest guest
--Thanks for describing your experience. I have read several times that some patients have actually walked into the operating room! I was wondering if they weighed you before surgery. I don't remember ever hearing about the shot in the stomach. I bet that hurt. This is all so important for me to hear about since I will eventually have surgery at Richmond as well. I am still working on losing that stubborn 10%. How long did it take for you to lose yours? Guest guest
It is funny what we all remember about the surgery. I remember in pre- op and them walking into to the room. I don't even remember getting on the table or the recovery room AT ALL. I do remember how cold the room was when I walked in. But my lack of memory is just fine with me since the results have been so great. PEGGY > > > --Thanks for describing your experience.
