Guest guest
Oh geez, , and you were sitting? I sure hope it is from the pain pills. I'm certainly one of the worst offenders when it comes to drinking enough fluids (rarely thirsty and never think of it), but, especially in this heat, we all should pay more attention to getting our water in. I have to repeat this to myself, over & over again. Hugs, in NJ *************************** > Well I had to jump on a bandwagon.... but I was sitting here at the computer yesterday and almost passed out. I thought it was because of the pain pills I am taking for the hernia pain. I am fine now. (well still have the back and hernia pain) Will be glad when all of this is behind me. > > > >
Guest guest
OMG, girls! First Regina, then , now Ceep...this passing out stuff is worrying me. Please be careful, we love you! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This shouldn't be of any comfort, but I'm not feeling so alone right now with all the fainting going on. Have a 2 1/2 year history of it though. Diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension, basically same as postural hypotenion. This combined with the SVT and the medications they have me on to combat that, puts me in a bad way sometimes. The Atenelol lowers my already low BP, but if we lower the dose, the SVT kicks in and I start passing out again. If they raise the dose, I'm hitting the floor because of the low BP. Damned if I do kind of situation. Recently my new cardiologist put me on Thermotabs (salt pills) to help keep my BP up and to help me retain water so I hopefully won't dehydrate as quickly as I seem to have been doing. I take the pills three times a week as I don't want to get bloated. The doc feels that that is enough also. Right now they're thinking that now its a combination of the low blood count, and recent surgery, stress, you name it, they're coming up with a reason. We'll see. At least most of the time I can feel it coming on and I can find someplace to sit or I just sit on the floor. Sitting is not the problem for me, its staying vertical these days that has really become the challenge. Unfortunately, this has become a way of life and I usually just fluff it off. Easier for me to do than the people I faint in front of. ceep and , I hope you get answers soon. I know how frustrating all of this is. Guest guest
Tara: I don't know how old your son is, however, my kids are 6 1/2 and 10 and they have been told that if I " fall down " and they can't wake me up within a minute, they are to call 911 and then daddy or my neighbor Barbara. When I pass out, I usually come to within a few seconds, half a minute to a minute at the most. I explained that any longer than that, I may have hit my head and need help. If they see any blood at all, they are to call 911. This is what my doctors told me to tell them. I have been fortunate that with all the times that this has happened, and there have been many, it has only happened once in front of them, which is a good thing, because they weren't alone when it happened and now they know what to do if this should happen when I am alone with them. is a very responsible 10 year old. He also had the misfortune of having my neighbor drop dead of a heart attack in front of us a few years ago when I was picking him up from the bus stop. He had to call 911 and give our address to the dispatcher while I was outside giving CPR to our neighbor. He was only 5 1/2 at the time. I was so proud of him. Leah also knows what to do. If we're out in public, they are to call one of three designated people to come for them and they are not to go with anyone except for them or a police officer. Just make sure that your son knows what to tell the dispatchers at 911 and give him a time frame if he can't get you to " wake up " . Its unfortunate and scary, but they have to know what to do. They have the same instructions if we were in a car accident and I was hurt and unconscious and they weren't. They both know how to get and use my cell phone and to retrieve the numbers from the phone book. I also have a list of phone numbers in my glove compartment and in the storage area behind the driver and passenger seats in an envelope so both the kids have access to these numbers. I know it sounds paranoid, but was involved in a really bad accident with my friend and her husband, he died, she was unconscious and they didn't have their family numbers on them and their family members weren't listed. Took quite awhile to get to their families. What a mess. Don't want that for me or my kids. Hope this helps.
