Guest guest
There should be a list of high-iron foods in the archives or google it. Don't mix dairy with iron, it binds it. Vitamin C helps you to absorb iron. Some foods are liver pate, shrimp, oysters, fresh cherries, spinach and other greens which some make into smoothies. Meat broth from beef shanks, add some ACV to it to leach the vitamins/minerals. If you can't do a lot of citrus, drink a lot of grape juice that's been diluted. It's kind of like an iron diet within the SCD. I was able to bring my levels up taking a prescription iron pill (illegal) but OTOH, since it's a new generic, I've been absolutely miserable and the extreme opposite of the constant 'd'. I take Miralax twice a day. Doc had me on one prescription iron and one multi with iron per day. Both illegal but I've built up antibodies from blood transfusions so in November, they were unable to find a blood match. Either way, there has to be a natural way to avoid all the c*ap that goes with transfusions and extreme iron overload. Good luck. Sometimes iron is necessary via transfusion/IV/shots but try to find a way via nature imho. BTW, I've read iron shots can 'tattoo' you, check into that before trying. Does anyone know?
