Guest guest
visually there is an improvement, but I don't think it is 7 mm. What I think is that the first measurements are probably off by 2-4 mm, so that it would bring our starting asymmetry to ~15-13 mm and our progress to somewhere around 5-3 mm. I know there is a lot of room for errors since we are talking in mm terms and visual improvement is what matters, but it is kind of nice to have numbers. So according to those measurements he's gone from about 17mm (1.7cm = 17mm) to 10mm in 4 weeks, which is great! Even if there is a +/- margin of error, that's still showing promising improvement. Do you SEE the improvement in his actual head shape as well? Guest guest
Thank you, ladies. The fact that the cephalic index went up really bugs me. The strange thing is that at our last visit our ortho was glad that Aman's head grew in width -- I don't get it. My guess is that maybe right now he is focusing more on plagio. Aman's flatness slopes over the midline to the left side, so that if you take a measurement from front to back it would be smaller than you would get if the head was round at the midline. And considering that some numbers were smaller at the last visit, cephalic index is probably also off. But visually I think his head looks somewhat flat. So it looks like I would need to keep repeating myself to our ortho because he assured at one of our adjustment visits that Aman doesn't have brachy.thanks again to all.ZhyldyzFrom: christineashok <christineashok@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thursday, April 9, 2009 11:57:18 PMSubject: Re: corrected 4-weeks report posted -- What do you think? These measurements arent' very helpful since they are getting smaller (impossible) . I would recommend taking pictures to track the progress. You dont' want the cephalic index to increase. My daughter graduated from brachy treatment at 85%, and I would still want her to be lower. Banding is usually done at 90% or higher, but that doesn't mean you want to be in the high 80s. Since the measurements arent' good you'll have to use your eyes and pictures to track progress. -christine sydney, 3 yrs, starband grad > > > > > > Today we had our 4-weeks follow up appointment, although technically we have been in the helmet full time 3.5 weeks.. Guest guest
He could be like Elaine. The plagio was so bad that's all she was diagnosed with. As the plagio resolves brachy seems evident. The flat on the side is much improved, but the flat in the back is taking longer, so now looking at her measurements it appears she has a bigger issue with brachy even though it was never in her diagnosis. I've been told that the flat closer to the center of the head, especially if it's high, takes longer to resolve compared to flat spots on the sides. Perhaps you have a similar thing going on? Guest guest
It seems that Aman's and Elaine's cases are somewhat similar. I hope brachy doesn't get worse over time and we would start working on this issue at some point.
