If you are waking up with it, it could be eyesight related - like, you are experiencing eyestrain and you need glasses, or it could be die off. I was recently having a headache at the back of my neck and up - that was die off. I also had other flu-like symptoms, like waking up with tiredness and achiness. I took some milk thistle (from vitamin shoppe) a few times a day to support liver function (since liver is dealing with the toxins) and that helped. Definitely take epsom baths. You could also try ALA - that also supports liver function along with the milk thistle. Anyway, this is what worked for me. The good news is - that if it is die off - you'll feel better on the other side and have fewer symptoms. Also, on days you get die off, you should ease your antibacterial regime - don't take things like oil of oregano - etc, to ease your symptoms. Guest guest
Where is the headache? Hard to tell, it feels like everywhere. If you are waking up with it, it could be eyesight related - like, you are experiencing eyestrain and you need glasses, or it could be die off. Well, apparently there is a risk of inflammation in the eyes associated w/ UC. Maybe I should have that checked again. My vision seems okay though. My guess was die-off too.I was recently having a headache at the back of my neck and up - that was die off. I also had other flu-like symptoms, likewaking up with tiredness and achiness. Could loss of appetite be die-off? My appetite has decreased over the past week or so.I took some milk thistle (from vitamin shoppe) a few times a day to support liver function (since liver is dealing with thetoxins) and that helped.Definitely take epsom baths. What about ACV baths? I've heard you're supposed to rotate. You could also try ALA - that also supports liver function along with the milk thistle. Anyway, this is what worked for me. I've heard you're supposed to rotate.no clue - I think ACV baths are more antifungal/anti-yeast. I hadn'theard they help with achiness. For achiness, like headaches, I think epsom baths are better. Unlessthere is something about ACV baths I haven't heard - which is highlypossible. You could also try ALA - that also supports liver function along with the milk thistle. What about VCOno and probiotics?yes. unless you have the kind of system where addingprobiotics leads to die off. in that case, no. Althoughif you are taking s. boulardii, I might ease off of that aswell if that causes feelings of die off in you as it does forsome. Are you still flaring? Honestly, I have no clue. My symptoms have never been gone, and I've never had a period of normal BMs, ever since re starting the diet in June last year. So you could say it's been a continuous flare, or continuous die off, or anything else you want to call it. My body confuses me. Right now it seems to be transitioning because it's gone from continuous D (continuous like for months on end) to the C/D cycle, which started when I started acupuncture (and the chinese herbs).I was recently having a headache at the back of my neck and up - that was die off. Just felt sort of horrible in general, no real symptoms. Super low grade fever, like 98.9 (my normal is 97.6). So I think last weekend was die off. This probably is too, but goodness, this was the most severe cramping I've ever had in my life!! They use baking soda baths too, I think, but somehow that doesn't strike me well. The ACV baths sound better to me, as well as the epsom salt. Guest guest
Alyssa,"Super low grade fever, like 98.9 (my normal is 97.6)"Have you considered that your adrenals might be fatigued (therefore lower than optimum cortisone production -- the natural hormone as compared to the synthetic prednisone that Dr. prescribes)? Thanks to Sky I have been made aware of this and it's contribution to hypothyroid symptoms. I realize that there are some variances among individuals, but a whole degree lower than normal sounds suspect to me. Take and record your temp orally 3 hours after waking, three hours after that, and then three hours after that. Do this for at least 5 days. You should be averaging 98. Scroll down and see Test Four on this page http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ to see if you might have struggling adrenals.AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 19 monthsLDN 3 mgTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, February 7, 2010 3:00:00 AMSubject: Re: Headaches? Guest guest
Alyssa I get headaches off and on all day long, and then get migraines fairly often. This has been true for me since I was a child, part of the way my metabolism, nervous and immune systems work (or don't work). So, in addition to the causes others have discussed, I wanted to mention a few other possibilties. The main cause of my low-grade headaches is dehydration. Usually drinking a glass or two of water helps immediately. I wake up with a low-grade headache every morning that disappears as soon as I drink a glass of water, which is the first thing I reach for when I get out of bed. Another common headache trigger for me are fragrances from soaps, lotions, perfumes. Have you begun using a new hand lotion or laundry detergent? Some new product being used in your house? Consider candles too. I also get low-grade headaches as a food reaction, particularly to a preservative and/or additive. Since being on SCD, when I eliminated all convenience foods and therefore preservatives, this only happens now after I've had a meal at a restaurant. But you just tried FCLO, correct? Did the headache occur within 12 hours of your dose? That is stretching the food reaction, but it might be connected... I wake up with more severe headaches quite often (and severe nausea) because I have a dysfunctional upper GI. In other words the headache doesn't disappear when I have my glass of water when I get out of bed. My gastroenterologist and I have discussed this several times; all part of the dysfunction. It is that gut/brain connection at work [sigh]. The headache usually disappears 2 hours after I've eaten breakfast; in other words, when my upper GI is getting into full processing mode. Just some other ideas. Die-off is the most likely cause, or sinus issues. But I wanted to give you some other options, just in case. Kim M. I wake up with a low-grade headache every morning that disappears as soon as I drink a glass of water, which is the first thing I reach for when I get out of bed. This is what I usually suspect first when I get a headache, so I try to be sure to drink a bunch of water. Sometimes it seems related to dehydration, sometimes it doesn't. Another common headache trigger for me are fragrances from soaps, lotions, perfumes. Have you begun using a new hand lotion or laundry detergent? Some new product being used in your house? Consider candles too. I actually just recently swore off all personal care products (except toothpaste!) so I'm probably getting MUCH LESS fragrance. That might be something that triggered die off though, all those chemicals leaving my body? I also get low-grade headaches as a food reaction, particularly to a preservative and/or additive. Thanks for your ideas though!! Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Chinese Herbs (not legal but helping!) Guest guest
Some of us are more chemically sensitive than that. We really need none, ever. For me, if I go out in the big bad world, say to the dentist or a meeting, I have to assume that the Perfume Lady will be there, too, and I will feel horrible the next day. Headaches are not the only thing that happen. I actually just recently swore off all personal care products (except toothpaste!) so I'm probably getting MUCH LESS fragrance. Guest guest
I've been struggling with headaches as well. Mine are on the left side, on the mid/lower back of my skull. You know those annoying Head On commercials? It's a decent product. I put it on my forehead, temples, and neck. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > Last weekend, I had a headache for three days straight.
