I'm experiencing the same things. Haven't lost anything since mid May but

inches. Last few days I've been more tired than I was last week. I'm 6 weeks

out tomorrow (Friday). Taking all my vitamins and nutrients and trying real

hard to get at 1,000 calories but it sure is hard. Glad to hear I'm not the

only one who has experienced this though.

My Surgeon told me that at about 6 weeks out I would experience extreem

tiredness. It's just your body getting used to your new eating habits. Not

a big deal and as for the plateus, did you know that your body actually is

still shrinking even if the pounds aren't coming off. You can lose inches

and not pounds which is probably what's happening. Congratulations on your

weightloss!

Dear Kim,

A couple of things which I hope you will find helpful:

There is also pedialite in the baby food aisle. It has the

electrolites you need if you're not getting enough potassium and salts

that Gatorade provides with none of those calories. Add your own

Crystal lite flavoring and you're all set. As always check with your

doctor's office for their opinion of Pedialite.

Just because you see lots of other patients doing it doesn't make it

right. They just don't know what they are doing. The reason you are

told not to drink any carbonated beverage is because the bubbles will

cause your pouch to stretch before the normal time it takes to do so.

You paid dearly for your surgery, why would anyone want to throw all

that investment down the drain? Ignorance has to be the only answer.

If you want to lose weight during the maximum opportunity to do so

you must keep your pouch from stretching sooner than it will do as it

adapts to the new size.

When you drink carbonated beverages, the concern is that the gas from

the carbonation will stretch out your pouch. I have read in Dr. Terry

Simpson's book that you should not drink carbonated beverages for six

weeks or longer after your surgery unless instructed by your doctor.

It sounds like you haven't read " Pouch Rules for Dummies " which is

right at your fingertips here if you go to the left hand column next

to this message and you will find " Files " there. Click on it (Files)

and you will find a " word doc " there on Pouch Rules which will answer

many of your questions. It is 13th from the top in the Files list.

It teaches you what to expect at various stages after surgery. It

teaches you how to make your pouch work so you don't feel such hunger

as you described. I'm afraid the RNY doctors could do lots more to

give us our " rules for the road instruction manual " after surgery but

that's what these support groups are so good for. Now, do yourself a

favor and print out the pouch rules and study up.

I can tell from your post that you really want this to work for you.

I have been preparing for my surgery this summer and I'm really

impressed by the regimen outlined in Pouch Rules. I am going to

incorporate it into my own surgeon's recommendations.

When did you have your surgery?

Cathy
