Guest guest
Congratulations Teri. You have the right attitude! I just joined a gym and its funny because its not as awful as I expected. Since I have 150 pounds to lose 70% would be 105 pounds, and that would mean 182 pounds to reach that point. At a few days shy of 8 months post-op, I weight 179 pounds today (108 pounds gone). I have another 40 pounds to go but since 70% is what I can expect to keep off for good, than this surgery has done what it is supposed to do and is now officially a success. Eight months of eating cheeseburgers and fries, nachos, tacos, pot roasts, cake, ice cream, cobb salads, KFC, chicken salad sandwiches, candy bars. Well you get the picture, I do not diet. I did not have another diet in me when I began researching surgery. Worse that that I have practiced every bad habit known to man with the DS. Some call it eating around the surgery, some call it not taking responsibility for changing your eating habits. I snack constantly, and search out and appropriate every office pastry put in the break room. There are a few guidelines I do follow when it comes to surgery; I eat 90 + grams of protein in a day and I do take my vitamins and supplements everyday. I only drink a diet soda about once a month or so. And I walk, now I am even working out at the gym (I have been there twice now!). Exercising is fun now, I never thought it would be as easy and relaxing has it has been, with the weight off moving and lifting is so much easier. What a difference! Guest guest
Teri, Congrats on your success. I am so happy for you and your new found fondness of exercise. You were one of the people who wrote to me when I was pre-op and freaking out about what I was about to do to my body with this surgery...you were post op yourself, but put into perspective for me all of the reasons why we must choose our own destiny and be as proactive as possible...thank you for that. Your honesty and candor only propelled me further to do what I knew was right for me. Today, I am 7- pounds lighter because of my choice and the support of people like you. Continued success.
