Guest guest
, This is so normal! After such a quick loss, it takes the body awhile to catch up with itself. Expect the weight loss to go in spurts. For some of us it isn't a constant, even thing. Don't get discouraged. Dawna
Guest guest
> I went in for a 4-week check-up yesterday. I only lost 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Still can't eat much. Dear , At my 3 week check up I only lost 15 lbs. Don't despair, this surgery will work. At almost 23 weeks post-op I have lost 68 lbs. My weight loss has also been slow, but steady. You are also starting out at a lower BMI, like me. I did find that when I was able to eat more, I also lost more weight. Also, the proof of weight loss is with the inches lost too, not only the pounds. If I average my weight loss over 23 weeks, I lost almost 3 lbs. a week. At that rate, I will easily reach my goal weight of 130 lbs. within the 18-24 month " window of opportunity " . Jane J. 230/162 (-68 lbs.) Guest guest
There is a cure for this malady. It is called weigh *only* once a month on the anniversary of your surgery. A real cure for most ill placed anxiety. in Seattle > I went in for a 4-week check-up yesterday. I only lost 3 pounds in the > last 2 weeks. The first 2 weeks I lost 18 pounds. Guest guest
, I had hope to put this issue to rest when I wrote the little piece on how to calculate your percentage excess weight loss this morning. Let's see you are one month out, so a 10-15% EWL would be about par. Your " ideal " weight is about 157 lbs and you started at 288 so your initial excess weight is 131 lbs. Therfore you should loose 13.1- 19.6 lbs in the first month. Your stated weight loss of 18 lbs is near the TOP end of the range, so you are doing well. You can expect to get down to about 240 lbs at the end of 3 months, and you are on your way to doing even better than that. Remember, it is possible to loose to much weight, but your rate of loss is in the high end of normal range. Therfore I would predict an excelent rate of success for you with a finishing BMI of about 26 at 1 year after surgery (corresponding to 181 lbs). To get to 160 lbs requires loosing 97% of your excess weight, and that is possible but not probable. Again excercise and weight training (after you are cleared by your surgeon) are your best stratagy if you really want to get there in a healthy way. Hull > I went in for a 4-week check-up yesterday.
