I don't think it is the taste that he is used to, but the look of

things. I gave him the Vance's waffle and he immediately said " I want

yellow waffle " , referring to Ego's. The Vance's one look a little orangy

brown.

I am just getting frustrated, because he won't eat anyhting except for the

pizza. At least before he had a slightly varied diet.

SunflowerHello all,

My name is and I'm coming up on 17 months out from surgery. I have had

a great success in the losing department. A quick rundown...I've lost

234lbs, gone from a size 32 to a size 8/10/12 depending on the cut and

maker. My BMI went from 61.5 to 27. I recently had a body fat analysis

done and am at 27% body fat. My PCP told me the only thing I have left to

lose is loose skin that will have to be removed. He and my surgeon don't

want me to lose anymore weight.

There is my joy and my dilemma. I don't know how to stop trying to lose

weight! I have been on one diet or another since I was seven years old,

that's 33 years of trying. Now I have to try to maintain. The bizarre

thing about this is that right now I am carrying 5lbs of water weight,

ladies know why, and I'm obsessing! I go from monitoring everything that

goes into my mouth to trying to binge (not easy but I've succeeded a couple

of times). I'm starting to drive myself crazy, and I am terrified! I am so

afraid that I am going to regain, or spend the rest of my life letting food

drive me nuts.

The other problem is that I'm recently divorced, yes one more lady who

finally got the self esteem to realize that she deserved better. This means

that I'm around alone at night with too much time to think.

Well, that's my story, any advice or help any of you can offer would be

greatly appreciated. Sorry this is so long. I don't usually go on like

this.

Welcome - I am fairly new to the list also. Are you getting any

counseling? That would be my suggestion in trying to learn not to obsess

about food. I can imagine how frustrating it must seem. Congratulations on

your great success.

This statement hits home with me. It shows me how much I am still in the

I intellectually understand how difficult it would be to be fighting to

maintain a healthy body weight, this situation feeds into my desires to have the

freedom, even the MANDATE, to EAT with abandon. On the one hand, I understand

that it would be a terrible condition to wish on myself ... but that

I have the same problem, too much weight loss. My surgeon advised me to

reverse the pouch rules and start drinking with my meals, eat snacks

between meals and throw in a few carbohydrates. I do this, but it is

still a constant battle to maintain my weight.

Hi, I'm Darrin, new to the list, and thought I should introduce myself. For many years I've been experiencing a worsening neuro conditionI felt was ms with tremors, twitches, spasms, a myoclonic jerk, anda contracture plus visual and other sensory problems. I finally gotto see an ms neuro recently who prescribed a battery of tests thatincluded comprehensive bloodwork and not yet done potentials tests. I haven't been to the follow up yet but the blood tests were negativefor just about everything except an ACE level in the 90s when it shouldbe 60 or below. A search on this got me to neurosarcoidosis and info onit seems to cover my symptoms well plus it explains the ACE. I don't know yet if I'm just a stranger sitting at the campfire for a nightor if I'll be building a cabin here but in any event it is nice to see a thriving community. Cheers,Darrin

Darrin,

I do hope we don't have to welcome you to the family-- as I'd not wish this disease on anyone. However, you are welcomed with open arms.

An elevated ACE is a sign that there is "systemic" inflammation somewhere in your body-- it is not specific for sarcoidosis. In fact, we don't have a single test that is specific for sarcoidosis.

Have your docs done a spinal tap? That would tell them if you have MS, since MS has specific protein bands exclusive for MS.

The process you will be going through is to rule out all the other autoimmune diseases, and then maybe they'll decide you have NS. neurosarcoidosis. DO you have any other confirmed spots of sarcoidosis-- ie. lungs?

We look forward to gettig to know you.

Take care,

Hi Tracie,

No lp yet. A triple EEG series is next on the list, I'm just awaiting funds.

I need to get my xray from my old physician and show it to the neuro.

My old doc had said my heart and major bronchi looked enlarged and he

wasn't sure why. I saw an xray online of the stages of sarc and it looks

much like the first stage. My brain and spinal cord showed no lesions on

mri. That can happen in 5% of ms cases but I understand in sarc the

damage can occur peripherally.

Thanks, I'd only seen high ACE as results in a few diseases of which

sarc seemed the best fit. All I want is to pin a name on it. No worries

though I've got a great neuro now (lousy one before) and the only limits

are time and money and both of those can be fixed.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'm sure most of my questions will be

answered just reading what others are writing. When I have more info

myself perhaps I'll then be prepared to ask useful questions.

Cheers,

Darrin
