Guest guest
Hi Lee, I am very hard on myself. It's so easy for me to gain 5 lbs. Just a couple of days of giving in to temptaion, or of being to lazy to get on the bike. I still get high praises from people on occasion. But not as frequently as before. There is a group called TOPS. It's simular to Weight Watchers but it is much less expensive, but is also less structured. There is no prescribed diet. They do offer lots of support. But this varies by chapter as well. TO find a chapter that meets near you goto www.tops.org and enter your zip code. > I am really stuggling to lose the last of my weight. Guest guest
I too have considered attending Weight Watchers, but hesitated for fear of just such a response. I decided I would just go and attend, but not tell anyone. What business is it of theirs anyway? Anyway, I have YET to actually do this, but that is the plan. I am fortunate that most of the people around me who are in anyway vocal about this (WLS) are very supportive and I get nothing but compliments all the time (still!). I suspect that there are people around me at work and in my social circle who are quietly hoping that I fail, but they aren't being obvious about it. Most people have been really supportive throughout my journey. Good Luck to you! Re: Weight Watchers.... > Lee, > I have had people tell me that I was taking the easy way > out with > this surgery. Guest guest
> Her attitude was > that Weight Watchers is for people who want to lose weight the right > way not the easy way.... I really resent it when people try to infer that a gastric bypass is taking the easy way out. Just because they haven't reached the point when all the diets in the world don't work, they turn their noses up at us because we opted to do something that, gasp, actually has more of a chance of success. (I'll take the 85% success rate over their measly 5% any day of the week.) Yeah, I'd like to see these people eat 1/4 portions of food they usually eat. I'd like to see them deal with the supplementation issues, the dumping, pouch rules, all the things that go along with this surgery and then come tell me it's easy? I don't think so. I hope next time you speak with this person that you aprise her of her ignorance. And, that this surgery isn't ever an easy choice or lifestyle option. But, it is worth it. A point I am sure you'll be able to make to her when she is still yo-yoing years from now and you are the same weight. BTW, welcome to the group, M Amarillo, TX
Guest guest
because that's what diets do and everyone knows it's inevitable. they're waiting for us to prove that surgery is nothing more than an expensive diet that will fail in time, too Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
