Guest guest
I saw the two programs as well. I am pre-op and she didn't scare me at all. HE did!! Yikes! The woman obviously had food issues and went through hell to lose weight, but I'm sure she is a very unique case. I know there could be complications, but I don't think hers are typical - at least I'm really hoping they aren't. He really frightened me. I can't imagine being any larger than I am right now and seeing him at over 1,000 pounds was really quite emotional for me. You are right, Bee - he was totally in denial and I noticed the Coke cans and pizza boxes in the trash as well. What is his wife thinking? I'm wondering if maybe he doesn't intimidate her into buying alot of the stuff he knows he shouldn't have. I know he tried to bribe the hospital staff to bring him "no-no" foods. I thought the two programs were informative, somewhat inspiring (she was, at least) and frankly, scared me into getting this thing done! in Cupertino
Guest guest
Last night I watched the two programs on TLC, the 627 # woman and the 1/2 ton man. I feel a bit overwhelmed after watching them....Her esp. I felt a lot of anger watching his as he was and is in total denial and says he is eating healthy but camera followed his wife (very overweight) to the grocery and also panned the kitchen and all the garbage....tons of "no no food" that we should not eat evey day or every meal..... Interestingly his surgeion had GBS. I do not really recommend anyone watch her story that has not had the surgery as it might "scare you" Your surgery will be nothing like hers... her BMI was 103....so that made it extremely risky and dangerous and yes she developed major injections as to be expected when they had to cut so deep. the rest of us are much much safer w/ this surgery. I think I had heard that one of them died recently....???? They were both very interesting to watch and will be repeated over and over if you have any desire to watch either or both. His program had a lot of other people they interevewed. Her program was touching watching all of the really wonderful people who assisted her esp in all the transporting. His transport made me sad... they took him home in a U-Haul trailer attachment that people are not supposed to ride in... the indignity of being over size....
