Oh, - I'm so very glad that everyone was ok, that's the most

important thing. Everything else can be replaced if necessary.

But I can SO relate to this! When my husband and I were newly dating,

we came back from an out-of-town trip and discovered his family's house

had had a fire. Everyone was ok, but they had to move out during the

rebuilding and EVERYTHING smelled like smoke. Even now, more than 25

years later, we'll sometimes open a box and catch a whiff of it.

One thing I can suggest that I've learned since then: If you have

things that absorbed the smoke, take a large plastic garbage bag and

put a layer of clean kitty litter in it - don't be stingy, use a good

amount. Then sprinkle in baking soda, mix it well, and put in the items

that smell like smoke. Tie it all up and leave it for several days.

It may not totally get rid of the odor, but it really cuts it down!

And for the rooms that smell like smoke, get a bag of charcoal briquets

(NOT the kind like Match-lite that have starter on them, but the

regular kind with nothing added). Put them out in a big open aluminum

pan like you'd roast a turkey in, and leave it out in the middle of the

room for a few days. It helps absorb a lot of the smell.

oh my gosh, sorry to hear about your family, i hope it is not too financially a drain for them, glad that they got out ok with no health accidents. If they need help and any kind of fund is set up i would like to send them a little something, you could email me privately if you want at irishlilt@... and maybe i could send them a gift card or something, that is horrible for any family, especially a young one. Thanks so much Donna.

My shoulder is fine, no pain now at all.

My SIL is still devastated but resolved to cherish whatever time she

can with her child. The baby has partial trisomy 18 and something on

chromosome 4. They are telling her that no other baby in the world

has had both, so there isnt too much information available to her.

My son is still waiting for insurance approval. He is in alot of

stomach pain from the ulcers, and hernias. Im hoping he is approved

soon.

They say things come in threes so hopefully this is it! LOL
