Guest guest
Hi! I'm having upper, lower, genio and my wisdom teeth out on 1 Feb. I just had a thought, after waking up and sneezing 3 times in a row! - What do you do about sneezing and yawning in the first few days post op? It must be really really painful... I don't see what you can do to snop sneezing. I guess for yawning if I sleep as much as I hope, I shouldn't be yawning. Thanks for your replies! . Guest guest
Hi , I had two solutions for sneezing and yawning. For sneezing, I pinch the bridge of my nose, most times this helps minimize it. For yawning, just make sure you support the lower jaw, otherwise it is an uncontrolled opening, and my surgeon warned me against that, at any time, even way post-op. Hope that helps, > > Hi! > > I'm having upper, lower, genio and my wisdom teeth out on 1 Feb. Guest guest
Hi I had the same surgery on Jan. 14, I wanted to say good luck As for the sneezing and yawning; sneezing I don't find too bad, but yawning is a bit unpleasant, it hurts a little. Not too much though. Honestly, laughing hard is much worse for me! In my case though, I'm pretty numb, so nothing's too terrible pain-wise. - > > Hi! > > I'm having upper, lower, genio and my wisdom teeth out on 1 Feb. Guest guest
Lucky for me i did not need to sneeze for about 2 weeks and when i had to, it was not bad. i remember though, it took me several weeks to get over the " this is gonna hurt " as the sneeze approached, but it NEVER did. Yawning was tough on me for a lONG time. i was in bands post surgery for 3 months, off for 4 and now am on them again on one side. because i was banded 24 hours a day, my muscles got stiffer than the average. It took a lot of exercises to get my movement back to about a 90% opening, but at least at this point it is comfortable. i was sucessfully able to stifle my yawns, you know, like when you are in a lecture or something! did that for months! katie > > Hi! > > I'm having upper, lower, genio and my wisdom teeth out on 1 Feb. Guest guest
Sneezing wasn't that bad for me either. I was told not to stifle my sneezes and to support my lower jaw by resting it in hand. My OS said that stifling sneezes would have caused more air to build up in my sinus cavities. As for yawning, I absolutely hated having to do it. I stifled them for as long as I could, but when I was allowed to go without my bands, I used them as a means to exercise my jaws and build range of motion. I'm 10.5 weeks post op from my second upper/lower surgery and am pleased to say that yawning doesn't bother me anymore.
