That's why you're paying him the big bucks (or, I hope, your insurance provider is!) -- because he's sposed to know the answers for your own particular case. I would not have been at all happy to wind up with greater lip incompetence. But it may be that you still have swelling and healing going on. I knew from the get-go that I could wind up with more or less TMJ pain, but I would have asked for and expected help from my ortho and/or surgeon if I'd asked for it. At least in the form of a referral to a good PT. The way you bring it up is to say, or write, if that's easier, " Dr. X, I'm having some problems I don't understand. I hope that you can help me with the answers and solutions to them... " Then tell him/her.
