I had mentioned her name to someone from Texas (sorry I forget to whom!) as possibly being able to do phone consults, plus all the testing at the neighboring lab they go through (Nubasx and Metametrix, in Norcross, GA) but asked them yesterday more specifically, and at least one initial in-person visit is required. Then the rest can be by phone/mail/fax. So far, we've only done the food > allergy testing and that was through our DAN! doctor. Mine does everything from the heavy metals chelation/allergy issues/supplements they sell there (probably more expensive that way, but at least I don't have to " think " myself, and just get what they recommend for supplements....all top quality stuff like Kirkman's, Thorne, etc.) My doc recognized my urgency to get the maximum results fast (my son is 8 and 1/2) before I lose my window of opportunity. So we did about 4-5 weeks of " cleanup " ....(my wording, not theirs!).....parasites, bacteria, yeast issues, started gfcf right away after allergy testing, and then jumped right into chelating. I've heard elsewhere, I think, that the gases when they are actually filled are the worst part (ie, already a done deed) and that some can still seep out through the gums into the bloodstream, but that this should not be your very first priority to replace them (which can be done). My son only has one filling, and I'll think about having it replaced someday, but not right now! I actually wonder about my husband, who has a MOUTHFUL of metal fillings and is getting sick a lot, it seems. But we can't afford to do all this testing on him, too! Guest guest
Dr. Vogel, with Maureen Durkin working under him...she is actually the DAN practitioner and autism specialist. Nubasx Nutritional Clinic (I think that's the full name) in Norcross, GA, on Peachtree Industrial (near Spalding Dr.) The lab next door is called Metametrix. They do all the high-tech stuff that Great Plains Lab does. Guest guest
..... Second question...assuming that my son has excessive heavy metals, what would you/have you done about amalgam fillings? My son has 2 fillings in baby teeth that won't fall out for at least 2 years. Has anyone been in this situation? If so, what did you do? (FYI, he's Aspergers and not too difficult to deal with...yet, so waiting until they fall out is definitely an option. But OTOH, why wait if we know there's a problem.).... Our DAN doctor was reluctant to start chelation until I made arrangements to have the amalgams replaced. There is some data about the continuing vaporization of mercury from amalgams. I don't know if any reports support the concern that chelation pulls mercury into the body, but I do know that I became ill during chelation, then discovered a filling that had not been replaced. Once it was out, the fluey-achiness vanished with the next round of chelation. My son (Aspergers, 10 yo) had his 2 fillings replaced at the start of chelation and made quick progress, especially in terms of reduced anxiety. Most of the cost was covered by our dental insurance. Despite inital reluctance by our dentist, he was amazed at the rapid changes in my kid's behavior and now asks me for articles on the mercury amalgam issue.
