I have chronic migraines. I have discovered that monosodium

glutamate (msg) and its derivatives will trigger a migraine in a

heartbeat. Watch out of anything in the ingredient list that says

(in addition to the above) hydrolized protien, autolized yeasts,

sulfites and nitrates. These are found in broth, soups, etc. I have

a trigger level that if I exceed it, I will be guarenteed to have a

headache. You might want to check ingredient lists. I also have

found out that if I do get a dose of msg, I can take benedryl and a

tylenol to stop it. If not, I'm hitting the Immetrex, bed and a deep

dark hole!

Hate to tell you, but I will no doubt be one of those skinny ladies

that lose a bunch of weight. DH will be really frothing as he is one

of those fellas that looks at the ice cream and gains. I eat to

live. He lives to eat LOL

I've had my braces on for 11 months. Yes, they rub, pinch and are

pretty miserable when first put on. I have crowns etc and they had

to be etched/roughed up for the brackets to be glued on. I haven't

had one pop off yet. I also had to wait for several months so that

my top teeth would move enough to make room for the brackets on the

bottom. I still find that they rub. Forget biting anything. Hang in

there.

Oral surgeon issue... I have been talking to my orthodontist. He is

looking, I am looking. I've found a few that do orthognathic

surgery. But, I too am facing the insurance issues. I have Cigna who

flat out states orthognathic surgery is not covered. But I got a

referal to an oral surgeon for TMJ... go figure. I also have dental

insurance - Delta Dental - who also state that it isn't covered.

Then I am covered by United Health Care by my husband for dental

only. Finally DH is retired air force so I have some medical

coverage there. The oral surgeon I am considering is covered by

Cigna and Delta. I'm just hoping for some assistance with some

portion of the surgery.

Have an appointment in April with my ortho to 'reexamine' my

treatment plan. So what type of surgery I will be having is totaly

up in the air. Will keep you posted.

I have so enjoyed the posts, even though I don't have much to

contribute. But reading about your experiences, seeing the support

on this list, and just feeling a bit more in control has been great.

I'm not so freaked out about the potential for upper and lower jaw

surgery any more.

Later,

Steph
