Guest guest
Things have been hopping in Palmdale! I had jury duty for a week, not usually any problem...this time it kicked my butt. Everyday was a different check in time, I missed two classes during the week at school, one professor was an ass about it...answering my email in all CAPS like a child. I ended up being taken out of the jury before the case started...but there I was in the box of twelve for five days.It was a bad experience because of that.... they went through over forty prospective jurors and kept me five days before I got the boot. That and having seven classes right now made it a loooonnnngggg week. On a bright note... Randy and I went for our follow ups at UCLA, we are great! I've lost 50 pounds since orientation, I'm half way there (surgery was Jan 3, 2006). Randy has lost 125 since orientation (his surgery was August @, 2006), they say he can lose forty more but I think that might be a bit extreme! But the GREAT news was that our labs are PERFECT!!!!!! Cholesterol is perfect, vitamins and other tests ....PERFECT!!!! The doctor asked about how we felt and did anything give us problems.... Randy has no problems at all, mine are only that chicken sits a little heavy so I avoid it most of the time, and I really got sick when I ate a fresh warm chocolate chip cookie !!!! We all laughed and said that that was a GOOD thing... I was honest about the fact that Randy, Joee (our 18 year old), and I took a month to eat most of a box of Girl Scout cookies.... lying about things won't help. The doctor said that we must enjoy life in this process or we won't succeed. Randy and I are both ahead of schedule for our weight loss according to UCLA, I really thought I hadn't done as well as they would have wanted. I feel great, but it seems that others lost so much faster than I did.... the doctor said that my labs were proof that I was doing great! Sometimes big losers are in trouble with labs, anemia, protein, or they can't keep things from coming back up. I've had none of those problems!!!! Now for my dilema, as many of you know, I didn't tell a lot of people about my surgery before hand. Randy and I eat out with friends just about every night. As people have noticed me lose weight, I'm gracious about it. However, my dear friend, who doesn't know about my surgery, is a small problem for me. Anytime I'm complimented about how good I'm looking, going from size 26 pants to 16 is obvious, she pipes up that she has lost 35 pounds too! Well, she hasn't, and now I don't want to embarrass her now by telling her " my secret " to weight loss, I encourage her to keep up the good work. I'm just afraid that once she finds out she will have a fit and fall in it ~~~ She has been trying to pattern her eating habits after me, splitting a dinner with her husband, eating a kids meal, or ordering things differently, a cheeseburger without the bread, or condiments, cottage cheese instead of fries....like that. But eventually she will have to know....and since she is pretty quirky about things, do you have any suggestions about what I might say to get us through this potential mess? She is an older lady, 65, and a good friend but not a " best " friend, the kind you share everything with... I don't want to hurt her feelings. Well the clock is telling me to get out of here and get to work....HUGS to all of you!!!! Randy and I couldn't have done it without you!!!!! Thanks again! Sue in Palmdale!
