The insurance can't have a fit because you didn't take an insurance that was offered...its not manatory. You just sign a waiver... ~*~ AJ ~*~ Age 37 5'8'' Post op 7/24/01 Open BPD/DS self pay - Dr Baltasar -Alcoy Spain 07/24/01 BMI 64 415.1 08/06/01 BMI 59 390.2 -24.9 lbs! 08/16/01 BMI 58 387.0 -27.9 lbs! 08/24/01 BMI 58 386.5 -28.6 lbs! Guest guest
Actually--it would be good to keep the husband's insurance as a secondary--just in case there is something the your new one--which would be primary doesn't pay. I wouldn't drop the first one until a few months down the road anyway--just to make sure that your new one is everything they say it is. It is hard to get the old one back then. Pammi Paranoid about Big Brother Insurance Companies Hello, I have been reading a lot and now have an insurance question. I have insurance through my husband's work, I am currently self-employed. I was thinking of going full time at a job but would decline their insurance, because whenever you get your own insurance, it becomes your primary and they automatically the ones you have to use. This particular employer's plan is not WLS-DS friendly plus even if I could get it, I'd pay a lot more. So, not to be TOO paranoid (from everything I've read, how can one BE too paraoid??) -- does anyone know out there if insurance co's could use the fact I declined insurance at my new job against me?? At this point I have told them I may want to continue contract for now, just because of this, but some think I'm being silly because I would not get disability, and all theother important benefits. First and foremost I need and want this surgery!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------

You just sign a waiver... actually, my DH's company requires a covered spouse to carry any insurance for which they are eligible. And you must sign a waiver yearly stating you are/are not eligible and if you are, what insurance policy it is. Should you decline coverage for which you are eligible, you cannot claim coverage under DH's company's policy! --stella
