I don't normally post forwarded emails or anything that resembles a chain

letter . . . but I'm originating this one because a friend of mine needs

immediate input from you, parents of autistic kids:

Dear Parents of Autistic Children and Professionals Who Work With Autistics:

We have an emergency situation and need your help ASAP. A friend in

Australia, who is a parent of a young child with autism, will be appearing in

court on July 30th for a contact/visitation hearing.

The father of the autistic child is a convicted child molester.

This child is only 3 years old and has only emerging verbal skills at this

point.

The mother of the autistic child is concerned that, if the father should

happen to molest the child, there will be no way for this child to

communicate it to anyone. In fact, there is a chance that the child will not

realize that any " improper " contact has been made at all.

The mother does not wish to allow contact without supervision, nor is she

comfortable with " overnight " visits. In this case, there is a very good

chance the father's new girlfriend will be named as supervisor, which would

certainly present a conflict of interest. As would any other relative of his.

We are seeking letters of support for her to take to court. We're hoping your

letters will address the issue of this 3-year-old autistic child's inability

to realize and/or communicate that anything bad has happened.

Time is of the essence here, folks! Please, if you will take a minute of your

time to address this issue in a short note, your letter will be instrumental

in assuring this autistic child's safety.

I will be boxing up all responses and sending them via international overnite

delivery to the Australian mom on July 20th. So if you will please post your

letters to arrive to me before then, it would be greatly appreciated. We are

requesting snail-mail rather than email, hoping the posted letters will

provide a more legitimate-looking stand.
