<I know he will pick up 100 bottles of

Mexican Vanilla bc we have always used it. It is dirt cheap. I am

wondering if I dare use it?>

Janelle,

I travel to Mexico occasionally for business and I always make it a

point to bring back plenty of vanilla. I don't know of any lab tests, but

we have never seen a reaction with it.

Hi Janelle,

I've been using up my last bottle of vanilla from Mexico ever since we started

this diet about mid-July. I am almost finished with it, and I went out and

bought a bottle of approved vanilla - STICKER SHOCK! We have been seeing good

results on the diet, but lately I've been having a nagging feeling that there's

some hidden gluten somewhere. But...we've also been eating out more and you

never know what might creep into the food at a restaurant, even if I've called

ahead of time and checked.

So I guess what I'm going to do (unless I here some definitive information on

this) is use the approved vanilla for a while, then switch back and see if I

notice any difference.

Fifteen years ago when I was a Food Advisor for Wa. State, they had a class on

this. We were told not to use the vanilla from Mexico, as it had toxins and

other stuff in it that they did not check for, or have standards for. Here is

one site: http://homecooking.about.com/od/specificfood/a/mexicanvanilla.htm

You can also do a search online for " vanilla from Mexico, is it safe "
