Guest guest
Hi! I'm from Malaysia, joined this support group some time ago, was checking out the postings to get a feel of this surgery. After much soul searching, I have decided to do this surgery. Started on my long journey to a better face yesterday already. My surgeon put in some separators in my molars to prepare me for my orthodontics. In 6 days, he will extract 2 teeth and place the braces on. Am getting a Le Fort I, BSSO and chin and an eventual rhinoplasty to balance out my face. I am lucky that my surgeon is also doing my orthodontics. I am also getting an STL prototype (an exact model of my skull made with a 3D scan of my face - cool!) as he feels my case is a little complicated. My surgery should last 5-7 hours depending. Phew! best advice he gave me - do not lose any more weight as he needs me to maintain it for post-surgery transfusion. Like everyone else, I dread the recovery process but I feel I am not alone. As yet, I have not met anyone else who had this procedure done so I can't really sit down and have a lenghty discussion about The Experience. Also, as far as I know, he will not be wiring me shut (have phobia of choking on vomit) post-surgery. He has said at least 2 weeks before going back to work. Will be posting more as soon as I have made progress in my journey
