Guest guest
IMHO, YMMV. I do not drink with my meals. If I drink, I get too full. My problem is I eat too fast and get full too quickly. Yes, I know I should not eat fast, but it's something I have to work on, it's a life-long habit. So, I drink inbetween meals. In the beginning when I couldn't eat or drink much, I kept a water glass in the bathroom. Everytime something went out (LOL) water came in. I got a nasty urinary tract infection with blood in the urine and started to drink more and more, just little sips at a time. Then I got the flu and my body was just craving water, so I drank more and more. About pain on eating and drinking: I had a little bit of that in the beginning too so started expermenting with temperature of liquid and found that warm water was kinder on my stomach than cold water. Course, I'm all over that now, except keeping my food and liquids seperate. But, you don't have to, and Dr. Anthone never told me we had to seperate the two. In fact, my first meal in the hospital (which I could not eat), was cream of wheat, wheat toast, scrambled eggs, milk, coffee and juice. . .and the little ticket on the tray said, " DS diet " ! Can you believe it? My last meal (which was a lunch) was pork chops, pineapple, green beans, white bread w/butter, coffee, milk, and a frozen desert. I still can't eat that much at one time. It really cracked me up, that they brought me all that food to put into a little " hot-dog " size tummy. Me, I don't drink beverages with sugar in them because I don't like them, I actually prefer stuff w/nutrasweet (asparatame) in them. But that's me. I'd rather eat a sweet than drink it. Isn't the BPD/DS surgery wonderful? I'm a normal size now and I don't get punished when I eat, and I can eat whatever my tummy can tolerate!!!
