Guest guest
Easy way out? How ridiculous! When reading about the dentist analogy, I remembered my uncle telling me when he was a boy in a small town. When he went to the dentist for a cavity, the dentist would reach into his mouth with pliers and yank the tooth. So I guess that we're all taking the easy way out by having novacaine and drills, etc. dee --- maboden@... wrote: > Some people want to punish " fat " people for whatever > their sick reason is. > I was thinking about replies we could use. > For instance, when accused of taking the easy way > out by having wls ... > we could ask if they took anesthesia during any > dental work or surgery in > the past. Guest guest
I still like the one I learned in elementary school: I may be fat, but you're ugly...and I can [will] lose weight! Just kidding. I'm glad for this thread because I'm not sure what I'm going to say if someone says this to me. I'll probably say something sarcastic like " Oh, like having a surgeon rearrange my digestive system so I have to strictly monitor my health for the rest of my life is easy... " but that doesn't have much bite.

Guest guest
You can also ask " How did you get to work today? " Did they take the easy way by driving? Ask them why they didn't walk to work? They will probably respond that it would take to long, they would be late, etc. Their goal was to get to work. Our goal was to become healthy, so we chose the most effective, efficient way to get there. Then tell them to mind their own business, and make sure you sashay your skinny butt right out the door. You should just leave it in there to fester and make you sick...After all, dental decay is your own fault. If you had more willpower you'd brush more often..... Guest guest
did you ever break a bone? did you have it set and wear a cast? You took the easy way out. You should have just let it heal on its own. Carole>>>>> LOL Carole! Good one!! Judie

It's generally uncomfortable, but far from Hell, Carole. And, plan on six weeks. If you feel human after just a month, chalk it up to good fortune. --Steve --

I think that's giving them the easy way out, since a broken bone will often heal by itself, (even if it's crooked forever after), but morbid obesity is a terminal condition without surgery. I think a better question would be, " Do you know anyone who had surgery for cancer? Well, they took the easy way out -- they should have just changed their diet and exercised a lot. " Then, when the booger-eating-moron replies, " But they would have DIED without the surgery, " you simply reply, " SO WILL I, YOU $HIT-FOR- BRAINS A$$HOLE! " Tom
