Guest guest
Hi all, Well if you don't recall, about a mth or so ago, I was asking about muscle damage and such. Here's the story, about 7 mths post-op, in the shower-shaving...and all of a sudden see that my right upper thigh had a concave spot in it...about 2 " X 2 " . I FREAKED out...looked like I was post-op from a bioposy but wasn't. That sent me exploring. first online research...had some ideas but no confirmation, went to a GP, who said maybe torn muscle, went onto the Orthopedist and MRI because I had him and the 2 PAs stumped too. Seems that there is nothing " wrong " but a lose of celulite in that area causing some pain and disfigurement. WHY? They all guess it's my surgery. I am thin. period, no other way to slice it and when the nurse said time for demerol shot, buttock or thigh, I said thigh... (I thought 1, I have no butt really and 2, easier to get to in the bed to do leg) So I got about a handful of shots going from one leg to the other. no problem. when I left and was home, I noticed they were sore but thought well Duh! Of course I am sore, shots! and it went away and I recovered and went on my merry way. Seems that they think that the IM Demerol shots did it. Can happen 6mths to a yr post-op and is rare (which seems standard for me) but does happen sometimes, they suppose. We had already ruled out IM Steriods which this is more known for...so that was the " only " answer. HOLY COW! I NEVER thought that getting jaw surgery would damage my leg...and not that I am modest, but if I were to be invited to the beach or pool party I would ABSOLUTELY need to wear a wrap to avoid stares and questions (just when I thought I was clear of being stared at for imperfections! It's too awkward not to wear one, heck it even makes me sorta stare when I see it... so PLEASE ask questions, think about this if you're thin...or even if you are not...I asked recently, well I have another surg coming (screw coming out next mth on my upper jaw-see the other site), and while I don't think this will come up, what if!? I was told to be sure they go DEEP into muscle not short into fat. Lastly, I was asked to go to Physical therapy and will do...idea to build up the muscles around it, as it's painful (not like the surgery, this is dull nagging discomfort and spazams) and need to get the muscles trained to this new shape I suppose. so no serious damage, just Woah. Anyone else ever? Curious..... Thank you!! JO
