Guest guest
Hi Cheri, I took arnica (pills) before & after surgery along with a whole host of other homeopathic remedies on the advice of my homeopath (for bone fractures, deep nerve healing, clearing the anaesthetic, etc). That along with the surgical support cassette tapes I used is credited for a super fast recovery, the fastest the resident surgeon at the hospital said he had ever seen for upper/lower/genio. Of course, that's only the initial recovery, there are still many weeks & months of recovery left after that. I also had MLD therapy (manual lymph drainage therapy) to further reduce any swelling, both pre and post- op. When I got home from hospital after 2 days, I was still taking liquid tylenol (actually children's tylenol which was quite adequate) along with codeine syrup. I started feeling nauseous (sp?) after a few days of that, and I never feel that way, so I decided to stop the codeine. That resolved the nausea. I didn't need the codeine at that point. I never had any pain, though, just muscle soreness. Tylenol every 3 hours helped with that discomfort. I don't really remember when I stopped taking it, your body will tell you, I think. I do know that I started weaning off it once I could sleep through the night without a dose. Hope that helps, > > I had my lower jaw surgery on Wed. Guest guest
Cheri, I had mylower jaw done on March 3rd. I was on Percadan for 4 days, Tylenol with codeine for 3 days and then went to Tylenol 2 (Extra Strength)after that. I now take two tabs, three times a day and that seems to keep me OK. LIkley I'll be off it entirely in another couple of days. By the way, I definately went through some level of withdrawl with the Tylenol w/Codeine. Not bad, but had to be careful that I didn't confuse the symptoms. > > I had my lower jaw surgery on Wed. Guest guest
I was taking my perscription pain meds every 6 hours and motrin every three on top of that. I had strange swimming sensations when I was sitting still and weird dreams. My biggest mistake was quitting all pain meds the end of week one (some how convincing myself I would feel normal again and heal faster) So on my two week checkup when they checked my stitches it was very painful. He asked (dr) what my pain meds were and I said none for the last couple of days. I think that was a big mistake on my part and caused me a lot of unnecessary suffering. After that I took my motrin before bed and sometimes when I woke up until around end of week 3. Jane > > Actually, it's more usual to lose the codeine earlier than later.
