Guest guest
Damaris: I lost the 10% by following the 1200 calorie meal plan to the letter. I kept telling myself that this was a prescription, a doctor-ordered way to getting myself better. I exercised 6 days a week (Sundays off). I alternated the treadmill (at the lowest settings) with weight lifting (1 lb weights at first) following a video (Power 90). Well, soon enough, I was able to walk faster and lift more weight. And now, 3 years later, I run (outside with all the other runners because I'm no longer ashamed to exercise in public), and I do push- ups (300 per week), sit-ups (1000 per week), and I lift 10 lb and 15 lb dumbbels (in each hand) in my weight lifting routine. And, I can hardly believe that I'm typing this, but I've come so far that this coming Saturday, I will run 18 miles as part of my AIDS Marathon training. Who could have believed that this miraculous transformation was possible? Who? Me? Distance running is as mental as it is physical. If I tell myself I can't run 18 miles, I won't be able to. I have to believe that I can do this, just as you MUST BELIEVE that you can lose the 10%. Keep telling yourself that you can do it. Forgive any mistake and move on--not tomorrow or next Monday, but right at that very moment. I didn't believe it at first. It felt like a lie, but if you repeat it enough, something strange (and wonderful) happens. You actually start to believe it. It becomes part of who you are. I am a runner. I am athletic. I lost 153 lbs. And really, deep down in my soul, I believe it. Who knows what miracles you can achieve? You will when you believe! Best of luck to you.
