Guest guest
Dawn, What dosage is your friend taking daily? I am not a health care professional by any means but I do suffer from bouts of depression. (It took me about 5-6 weeks after surgery to get back on an even keel. In fact, I was told that post-anesthesia depression lasts about one week per hour under anesthesia; as I was under for 6 hours, this seems to have been born out, at least in my case).I am taking 150 mg. of Wellbutrin twice a day. This seems to be working for me. Is your friend's medication prescribed by a her PCP or by a psychiatrist? Perhaps, she should make an appointment with a psychiatric pharmacologist (or is it pharmacological psychiatrist?). I have no idea whether there are tests that would determine rates of absorbtion; I'm sure our more knowledgeable DSers can probably answer this question. At any rate, good luck to your friend; I know how crippling depression can get. I wish her the best. Marcia shadow44@... >
Guest guest
Dawn, A very good person to ask would be Montgomery (if she hasnt responded already) She is a mental health professional, and has extensive expertise with medications used to treat depression. (Plus, she's just an all around swell gal) If she doesnt respond, you may try e-mailing her personally. Guest guest
Dawn I took welbutrin to stop smoking it depressed me terribly. It might not be a malabsorbtion issue, possibly Welbutrin is not the antidepressent he needs. Maybe his Dr should try a different medicine. >From: dwkteach@... >Reply-To: duodenalswitch >To: duodenalswitch >Subject: What depression meds absorb well? >Date: Thu, 30 Aug 2001 17:49:16 EDT > >I am in need of some info for a fellow DSer who is about 7 weeks post op >and >suffering with symptoms of depression.
