Guest guest
The look on their face might be one of extreme mirth becuase in Canada you wait a minimum of a year and sometimes as long as two after your consult before the surgeon can perform the surgery. The hard part of the goverment covering medical costs is that there is always a backlog of cases. The scary part is that this doesn't just apply to wls. Many Canadian heart patients die waiting for heart bypasses and other procedures that we consider emergency or that would normally be treated within a 24 hour period. Now on the postive side if you have cash on hand things can go extremely fast in Canada. I have had a few elective things done there and not only were they cheaper but the service was phenomenal. Now I never requested a receipt and you can be sure that the surgeon never put this income on their tax forms. However in their favor the Canadian goverment kindly covers a pannilectomy for all canadian wls patients. The goverment also sets surgeons and physicians maximum fees. Which means as an American you will pay less there than you would here. And there are very rarely hidden fees. Not trying to be a smart ass but I did research this before choosing Gagner. My insurance company sucks beyond belief and I wasn't betting on them approving wls. And having had a few small things done I knew how much cheaper they were. After learning what I was up against I decided to atleast try to get approval. TINA > I live about an hour and a half from Montreal, the Holy Grail of > BPD/DS (Dr. Picard Marceau). Guest guest
Well, what a coincedence... I actually spoke to Dr. Marceau on the phone today- yes, he actually comes to the phone when not in surgery.... I asked him the same thing. He explained to me that he was way too swamped to consider operating on me...... He has his hands full with his fellow Canadians... but you never know. Give him a call. He is super nice and helpful.
