Guest guest
and Wanda, My name is Jeff I am fairly new to this group. I live in Sacramento but work in Modesto. I go to Kaiser on Dale Rd. I am working on losing my last 11 pounds. I have not been to a regular support group but am thinking that the one in McHenry village might work for me. Where exactly is it at and when? THe process sure seems slow its been about 2 years now since starting to talk with my doctor about WLS. What protein supplement have people found tastes good and still has enough protien for post surgery? Where did people get the other nutritional supplements we are supposed to start on pre-surgery? B-12, Calcium, vitamins? Thanks Jeff Re: Metformin ? The 10% is included in that 100 lbs, I think so you would still qualify. It is ok if you are pre op but you are going to need a high potency or a mega vitamin when you are post op. The one you are taking doesn't have enough to take care of your needs once you have surgery. The vitamin you choose the majority of them when you read the label should have more than 100% of the daily requirement. Ramona

Guest guest
Wanda, At Trader Joe's You can get a really good high potency vitamin, I Have been taking it for three years and so far my labs have been coming back fine since surgery except for a couple of months of low iron but that was taken care of by a bit more of additional iron. Once you go to orientation you will get a list of the vitamin requirements you will need once you are post op. Meantime I guess keep up with your vitamins although 9 a day of vitamins seems a little excessive. Ramona

I am now waiting for the reports from those two appts to get to my doc and then for him to send them to Kaiser. Then , from all I gather, it's hurry up and wait, for approval and acceptance into a program probably in Fremont. The next step will be orientation and beginning the 10 % loss journey. The psych and the overview are very easy, nothing to sweat there. Are you attending support group anywhere? There is one at Mc Henry Villiage on the first Monday of the month. It is very informational. There are people there at every level in this process. There is one in Turlock and one in Oakdale also, not sure of the times and locations but I will find out and let you know.
