Guest guest
Luke just received his helmet this morning and we have been doing the 1 hour on, 1 hour off. There hasn't been any pressure spots on his scalp so far. But we did notice that there are red marks on his sideburns and especially the top of his cheeks from where the STARband is resting. The sideburn marks have been fading away, but the cheek part is still there after 30 minutes. Should I bring this up to his orthotist? Is this normal? Thank you! Guest guest
We had the same issue with 's cheeks and sideburn areas. I think it is normal but you should also bring it up to your orthotist. It took us several tries before we got the helmet to fit our son properly. Watch the red spots to make sure they don't get blistery or you'll have a whole other set of problems to deal with. Good luck. -- , mom to and (STARband, 9 weeks) On Thu, Apr 9, 2009 at 3:05 PM , babymonkeyny wrote: > Luke just received his helmet this morning and we have been doing the > 1 hour on, 1 hour off. Guest guest
There shouldn't be any pressure points on the sideburn areas, so it is most likely just heat rash (which is totally normal, my son had it in the same area). However, it is still possible that maybe the sideburns are fitting too tightly to his cheek, so it wouldn't hurt to mention it to your ortho to be sure an adjustment isn't needed. Guest guest
I'm sorry. I posted my previous reply without realizing that you were on the 1 hour on and 1 hour off schedule. Yes, I would definately call if it's staying red that long after only being on 1 hour. It will only get worse when you move to 2 hours and then 4, etc. Sounds like it needs an adjustment. Guest guest
Hi , No worries...I actually forgot to mention that the red spots are probably worse because he was on his side while nursing (I use the my brestfriend support pillow). But I can't see how I am going to avoid them if I continue to nurse him.... > > I'm sorry. I posted my previous reply without realizing that you were on the 1 hour on and 1 hour off schedule. Guest guest
Hi , Hi , Thank you for your advice. I brought Luke to his orthotist today and he did an adjustment and it seems to be working. > > > Luke just received his helmet this morning and we have been doing the > > 1 hour on, 1 hour off.
