Just a thought - there's a debate about the best way to test for metals & the accuracy of the results. Our doctor decided to start treatment w/o testing and watch for results - which were fast and plentiful. No more meltdowns. Able to benefit from social skills training, more on-topic, responds apropriately to " no " , etc. When you find a new doctor, you might consider revisiting the possibility of heavy metal toxicity. If you find out any answers, let me know. My son is also approaching 5-1/2 and we are still dealing with huge " knee jerk reactions " , that cause much unhappiness to me and his siblings. He is stubborn, and has a mind of his own, and no means nothing to him, it's his way or the highway. Have you ever considered your son is more of an Asperger's child, rather than an ASD child? I mean its still on the spectrum, but this type of behavior is much more in line with an Asperger's child. Just to note, my son has been on the diet 22 months, and we are still fighting this battle. > > a - Peoria IL mom to Alec 7, 5.3 (ASD), 3.5 Hi a, I don't really know what all the differences are (PDD, Asperger's, ASP,etc)that is one of the reasons I would like to find a good doc. Haven't been impressed with any I've seem so far(none have been DAN)He has articulation and expressive language problems and I thought Aspergers had good language. I am so confused! Some days he's so sweet but oh those others!...

I feel better and hopeful and hope I will be able to be where you are after 18 months on this diet. He does have summer school which recently ended and I think he really needs the routine of school. I pray all the time!Your words are very encouraging. > > >
