Guest guest
Hi - It isn't a matter of eliminating fats, rather it is restricting them to the point that works for you. Non-fat is not suggested - limited fat is. Another source of difficulty resulting in diarrhea is lactose. In any case, most people will live well eating usual amounts of fat within just a few months according to Dr. Keshishian. Most people lose their lactose intolerance within a short time, too. Guest guest
Hi Chris.... with all the talk about this, I haven't heard anyone say that this is a life-long problem. In fact, I've only heard the opposite from postops. That this is a temporary problem, mainly during the first few weeks of recovery. I think you can put your mind at ease. As far as how to limit fat to get protein in... well you dont have to. I eat real butter on my toast in the morning. I eat eggs. I drink milk & eat yogurt. I eat fish, chicken, beef, butter on my lobster. I eat cheese on my salad and ranch dressing. I eat pizza. I don't over-do. I dont have a problem with diarrhea. I understand you really wanting to be sure. But this problem, is really overblown and really isnt a problem for the majority of postops, as you will read here. Hope this helps! heidi http://www.mywls.com/discus
Guest guest
Also, I am wondering if there is a relationship between 1) the amount of weight you need to lose and the recovery from excessive diarrhea, or 2) your age. Hi As far as I can tell the diarrhea is an individual thing. It has no relation to weight or age. I am 55 and started at 400 lbs. I only had some diarrhea in the first few weeks. I usually have 1 or 2 BMs a day. I don't even usually have the infamous orange oil slick if I eat a lot of fat. I did have my gallbladder removed during the DS. With this operation, there doesn't seem to be any guarrenty as to what you can expect. I say plan for the worst and be happy when it doesn't happen. Guest guest
I personally only watch things like not putting butter on toast, eating low fat versions of some things. But I also eat regular salad dressing and regular cheese. In my case I just don't over do the fats. I'm not clear about what your asking here. Can you restate your question? <Also, I am wondering if there is a relationship between 1) the amount of weight you need to lose and the recovery from excessive diahrea, or 2) your age.> Micky Fats and protein > Hi all, > > I've been reading your posts on diahrea, fats and protein for quite a > while....I'm confused and concerned about HOW you limit your fats to avoid > diahrea (as some say), when you have to get protein in, which > usuallycontains fats (at least beef, chicken and turkey all contain some > fat).
